I have never cooked dauphinoise potatoes - maybe this is the year I need to learn to!

And Cheese most definitely will feature! (Actually the cheese / chaucaterie board is looking quite epic when drawn out on paper)

Christmas Eve - takeaway from the chippy/Chinese from round the corner

Christmas Day - lamb shoulder, gammon joint, all the traditional Christmas dinner trimmings. Lots of cheese and snack bits (sausage rolls etc)

Boxing Day - visiting family who will be doing a buffet but we will have nice supermarket pizzas in the freezer; just incase for some reason when we get home in the evening the kids/dh says they’re starving! If they don’t get eaten on Boxing Day then we will have them the following day so they won’t go to waste.

MozzchopsThirty · 09/12/2020 12:56

Xmas eve - macaroni cheese with pancetta and tops with roasted tomatoes with garlic bread

Xmas day - egg & salmon on toast for breakfast then turkey dinner

Boxing Day - real chips with leftovers & pickles

MouseholeCat · 09/12/2020 13:04

Christmas eve- scallops
Christmas day- lamb
Boxing day-probably ordering sushi

I've not yet decided on all the sides.

movingonup20 · 09/12/2020 13:17

Not sure, definitely meat and veg for dinner on Christmas Day, what will depend on if I can purchase a small Turkey, there's only 3 this year due to covid. Christmas Eve maybe nibbles but bit logistically complicated to know yet, Boxing Day leftovers

BikeRunSki · 09/12/2020 13:24

Fish n chips
Roast
Nachos

troppibambini · 09/12/2020 13:24

Xmas eve we are hopefully going to the pub if we get out of tier 3 and into tier 2.
Xmas day sushi to start, roast turkey and various desserts
Boxing Day I open packets and shove a load of leftovers out on the island.
27th a Thai beef curry

Christmas eve will be a takeaway Italian.

Christmas day is a turkey dinner with all the usual trimmings. Cheeseboard too.

Boxing day is basically another Christmas Dinner as we visit the other side of the family.

Buttercream22 · 09/12/2020 14:51

Lunch is going to be beef wrapped in prosciutto with loads of veg (prob 6 or 7)

After that it's a chocolate and crisps and snax free for all

Sunbird24 · 09/12/2020 15:06

24 - Chinese takeaway and cake (family birthday)
25 - Buck’s Fizz & croissants, probably a starter with smoked salmon or prawns, roast turkey & trimmings then Xmas pud & brandy butter, carpet picnic type tea of cold meat, cheese, salad etc & mince pies
26 - leftovers...

Iamblossom · 09/12/2020 15:08

oh and we have xmas pudding, xmas cake, mince pies and I am going to make a trifle too. Just cos.

TheGonnagle · 09/12/2020 15:08

Eve: fishy things, like smoked trout pate and Yorkshire puddings, smoked salmon and blinis, scallops and prawns etc.
Day: capon and all the trimmings (bigger than a chicken, smaller than a turkey!)
Boxing Day: roast sirloin and dauphinois
All washed down with lots of cheese. And wine. And cheese.

viques · 09/12/2020 15:09

CE:Macaroni cheese with lobster tails, ok with crayfish tails, ok ok ok with big prawns.

CD: Starter gravadlax with very posh bread from the very posh bakers . Then Chestnut loaf , roasties, lots of other veg. Home made Christmas pudding, brandy butter. Evening cheese, lovely lovely cheese.

BD: Something from m and s or Waitrose that involves me removing the packaging and sticking in the oven . Cheese, lovely lovely cheese.

In between: Lots of wine and gin. Honey roast peanuts, chocolate coins, other chocolate, panettone, possibly a poached egg on sourdough toast for breakfast along the way, clementines, cold Christmas pudding with brandy butter and vanilla ice cream, home made mince pies with frangipane topping. Cheese. Mostly basic food that can be eaten while lying horizontally on the sofa and doesn’t involve using a knife and fork (except for the poached egg) .

CherryPavlova · 09/12/2020 15:19

Christmas Eve - Marmalade Ham with Cumberland sauce, baked potatoes and red cabbage or coleslaw and a pavlova.

Christmas Day - Turkey et al.

Boxing Day - Sadly no drinks this year, so no canapes. Maybe something fairly simple, prepared in advance (possibly a mushroom wellington or maybe a vegetable curry).

tempnamechange98765 · 09/12/2020 15:25

Ooh good thread!

Christmas Eve, possibly some form of cooked breakfast/brunch, then a fun picnic/picky tea (two small DC).

Christmas Day I think something continental/pastry based for breakfast. Last year we had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs which I do love but I think might be a bit rich as we're having an earlier Christmas lunch this year. Whereas pastries are tasty but not hugely filling!

Christmas lunch at my parents, that will be turkey etc, full trimmings, my DF is a brilliant cook.

Then evening will be picky bits/nibbles/cheese. Yum.

DS' birthday is Boxing Day so his choice for everything, I think so far it's pancakes for breakfast.

ilovebagpuss · 09/12/2020 15:37

Christmas Eve Buffet table for grazing with cheese and other hot bites.
Christmas Day smoked salmon and prawn platter Beef Turkey and all the usual sides. Maybe pavlova and cheesecake not decided yet.
Boxing Day leftovers, chips, salad and pickles. Later maybe a panini stuffed with goodies to use some cheese up.

katcatkat · 09/12/2020 15:41
