Thought I’d set this up as we don’t seem to have one. Please delete if we do and I’ve missed it.

Great news @TOWGA

A thread baby!

@Egghead68 I think if I could not wfh I would ask for furlough for childcare reasons then as I think from what I read furlough can be requested for childcare. Sadly, as a teacher I cannot get furlough for childcare but I was tempted to ask with young children and still teaching live, albeit now on Teams from home!

TOWGA · 16/01/2021 22:35

I have a feeling I will be shielding majority of my pregnancy!

Dippysauceus · 17/01/2021 11:45

@Egghead68 Cannot they not use furlough or flexi-furlough?

I had to use a portion of my annual leave whilst on flexi furlough - made sure I claimed every day of overtime when I was made redundant though!

Egghead68 · 17/01/2021 20:58

They didn’t mention anything about furlough. It’s public sector so I’m not sure if furlough applies. Not my battle, anyhow. Feel sorry for those whose it is.

Congratulations @TOWGA!

So this is the week they start inviting us to be vaccinated. Very mixed emotions

Dippysauceus · 18/01/2021 18:46

@Didkdt my borough are inviting 60 plus (and some fifty year olds) with no medical conditions yet they haven't vaccinated all the health care workers, homes or older age groups or CEV yet.

Been all over our local Facebook groups today. Starting to get nervous there may have been a cock up somewhere.

Poppystars · 18/01/2021 22:08

Still no shielding letter ... yet I shielded all 2020 after getting shielding letters and texts and condition not changed. Hope I get vaccinated at priority 6, if they lost me off the list, as I am under 50. Eek!

Didkdt · 19/01/2021 01:15

My shielding letter came Saturday so maybe give it a day or two I’ve lost track of how many I’ve had since November I think it’s 3

iVampire · 19/01/2021 14:08

Not posted here for yonks - but thought I’d wander back in to say I got my jab booking link by text today, and have made an appointment on the earliest available day - which was Saturday

Only just made it, slots were vanishing before my eyes, but there were several more days well in to next week open for booking. And GP will ring anyone who has not made an online booking by end of week to make appointments by other means

I know we shouldn’t make any changes based on vax status, and I don’t propose to make any big changes. But perhaps if I really need something from an actual shop, I might go myself. Unfortunately I can’t think of anything I actually need that I can’t get online, but I can still dream of lockdown rather than shielding rules!

Egghead68 · 19/01/2021 14:57

Hi iVampire!

Vaccinations seem very random. Someone I know in her 70s got invited to one 1 hour 50 drive each way from her house but her older husband hasn’t had his invite yet.

I’m still shielding as per advice/diktat despite having had mine (hospital worker) but it’s sorely tempting to pop to an actual bakery when it’s quiet. Don’t know if I’ll hold out till Feb 21.

Great you have a a lot @iVampire do you know which one it will be?
Still doing over 80’s and NHS and care homes here, not yet down to over 75’s.

Poppystars · 19/01/2021 18:11

To be fair no post today so still can get a letter.

cookiemonster5 · 20/01/2021 16:16

My husband just got a text to say he will be offered the vaccine by mid-Feb because he is shielding. Then I got the same text too because my number is registered for our son who is also shielding.

Only thing is my son is 11 about to turn 12 and from what I've read the vaccine is only for the over 16s.

Does anyone know if under 16s are getting it? Not getting much answers online for definite.

iVampire · 21/01/2021 08:54

No, I don’t know which it’ll be. I’m being done in repurposed NHS premises about 20 mins walk away, and it’s via GP who is is a group with several other practises using that location.

I’ll out on the day which it is

@cookiemonster5 - best thing is to ask your DS’s consultant. I doubt they will do any under 16s at the main clinics, but it might be possible to arrange (individual off-licence prescribing) at a hospital

Babysharkdoodoodood · 21/01/2021 14:40

My parents have got their jab tomorrow. Both late 70's. Mum has some co- morbidities.

I got my vit D today.

Nothing new happening except I get to take over the home office at weekends now as DH is fed up with working Saturdays. I think shift work at home is so much easier. No travelling in at 10pm and then waiting for a bus at 7am when I'm shattered. Same with earlies: I can roll out of bed at 0630, into leggings and jumper and be logged in ready to work at 7. Just a pain in lates as I don't finish until 2200, so I arrange food planning, so DH can whip something up and I can take my break when it's done. (But shhhhhh: he's an awful cookGrin).

Egghead68 · 21/01/2021 20:50

Oh I was going to ask if anyone had had their vit D.

My parents (late 70s) got their jabs today (locally, after phoning up to ask). They said it was extremely efficient and they (GP consortium) we’re doing 500 a day.

That is good to hear. Our Gp website, Facebook group and actual building says “ do not phone up and ask about vaccination!!!” Then says we will tell you when it is your turn, sigh.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 22/01/2021 14:28

Been playing phone tag with my gp since yesterday and they finally got hold of me. Getting the jab tomorrow at 1442. Very precise Grin.

And just rebooked my holiday for the 3rd time. October this time around.

Teaistheanswer · 22/01/2021 15:44

That's good news about your jab @babysharkdoodoodood and let's hope it's third time lucky with the holiday Grin

I had to brave the dentist yesterday. Really didn't want to go but was quite reassured by the measures they had in place.
Really hoping to hear about the jab soon...fingers crossed.

Adooree · 22/01/2021 16:25

@Egghead68

My dh had his delivered today.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 22/01/2021 17:09

I made my DH cancel his dentist GrinOnly a check up and he has nothing wrong. I don't want to risk anything in the final straight.

Anewuser · 22/01/2021 17:45

Just got a text from one of the hospital's my son is under. He's CEV and severely disabled, unable to speak, lacks capacity etc. GP class him as housebound so came out to our home to do his regular flu jab. Don't just want to ignore the text for him to be bumped off list then but there's no way I'd take him into a london hospital at the moment when we've been so careful with him for last 11 months.

I'm also classed as CEV but haven't heard anything.

Does anyone know what happens if you ignore the text?

Obviously we'll contact the GP Monday morning and ask the question but just wondering in the meantime.

iVampire · 22/01/2021 19:37

Does anyone know what happens if you ignore the text?

Not for sure, but my text said that if you did not make an online booking (by end of week?) they’d ring to discuss further booking options

I booked online (it’s tomorrow) so I don’t know what they might be able to offer - perhaps a community venue rather than bigger hub?

Teaistheanswer · 22/01/2021 20:05

Good luck with the jab tomorrow @ivampire

I know what you mean @babysharkdoodoodood I had cancelled several before but this time had to go due to an ongoing problem. I was a wreck waiting outside though. They must have wondered who the mad pacing woman was outside Grin

Anewuser · 22/01/2021 22:39

Thank you @iVampire, good luck with your jab tomorrow. I hope it all goes smoothly.
