Me too. It's fucking freezing, I've spent t the whole day sorting out staff ishoos, my DH sleeping pattern is all over the place so he is currently sleeping on the couch, will wake up buckled about midnight, I've given up and gone to bed but he will moan tomorrow we never see each other. I'm up and out early for work so am in bed early at night, he is a night owl. We are like ships in the night just now. My kids are being selfish arses and I haven't sorted out Xmas. Ooooooo that's better...

OhToBeASeahorse · 07/12/2020 21:04

Amongst many shite things today, one that has me baffled is an anonymous note from a neighbor about communal bin use. They claim that we’re putting all our paper in the wrong bin, and so have stuck all the paper in our garden. They’ve signed it with ‘this is your final warning’ Confused

myusernamewastakenbyme · 07/12/2020 21:05

Today can fuck off here too....a light has come up on my car dashboard and then on arriving home a load of my guttering has fallen off the house...i have no husband...dad or brother so will end up paying through the nose to get these things sorted.

OhToBeASeahorse · 07/12/2020 21:05

Hope u feel better soon @Sexnotgender

I've had an unusually crap day. Fuckwits driving without fog lights in what was honestly a backdrop suitable for bloody Dracula. I don't drink 363 days a year - have drunk far too much in the past. Once or twice a year I do, and tonight is one of those nights. I've already written tomorrow off but wtf who cares

TokyoSushi · 07/12/2020 21:11

@maskedcrusader well yes, it is 50/50, but he has quite a lot of the symptoms so if somebody said 'do you think he's got it?' I'd say I reckon there's about a 70% chance that he has!

Sexnotgender · 07/12/2020 21:12

Thanks @OhToBeASeahorse I’ll be grand. On the upside it’s not covid 😊

Sexnotgender · 07/12/2020 21:13

I had most of the symptoms. Doctor today said I presented as Covid. Test came back negative.

RaeburnPlace · 07/12/2020 21:15

Yep me too. Awake from 4.00am worrying about schools, started work at 7.00am to be faced with 11 emails sent after 7.00pm last night, all urgent.
Early meeting with line manager, new team, lack of communication and time made me feel ineffective and lazy, like I am the only one who is unclear about what they want. Mind reading has never been a skill of mine!
All put into perspective when a call from a headteacher mid morning revealed, two seriously ill young pupils, one terminal, a young teacher absent because her sister died during the night, three teachers in isolation, four TA's on long term sick, two with MH issues and the resignation of two senior teachers, a TA and a newly qualified teacher.

Desperate times😞

Thirtyrock39 · 07/12/2020 21:19

Saturday was a day of crap for me. I find weekends harder than weekdays at the moment, weekdays everyone at school and work doesn't feel that different to normal but winter Saturdays with nothing fun to do and dragging reluctant kids out for a freezing cold walk to get them away from screens for an hour or two ....

drumst1ck · 07/12/2020 21:20

Yep. Coming to the end of my tether with a one year old and f*ck all to do but tramp out in the rain and fog every day to the same old parks. Been doing that since August and I'm so sick of it. Also pregnancy hormones are the devil.

AstridAv · 07/12/2020 21:25

Yes! 2 people in DC class at school have tested positive for corona. He now he a temperature and cough as waiting on test results.

Drogonssmile · 07/12/2020 21:25

Yep. DS2 sobbed all the way to nursery and screamed when I left him. He's 4 and hasn't done this for months. He said he wasn't scared or poorly. I worried about him all morning checked with nursery to be told he was fine 5 mins after I left.
Stalled the car while trying to park at work.
My least favourite know it all noisy colleague was in even though she wasn't meant to be today.
Newest colleague spent all afternoon sighing, tutting and yawning which drove me mad.
All of downstairs covered in brick dust due to building work.
DH leaving for work at 5am tomorrow and and won't be back until weds eve so I have to deal with dusty house, two young boys and an electrician, plasterer and plumber arriving on weds alone.
Had 4 hours sleep last night worrying about most of the above and more.
All relatively small niggles but still annoying.

hopelessbusiness · 07/12/2020 21:27

Made redundant in October. Had interview Friday that went really well. Foolishly built my hopes up. Got phone call today to say in spite of them thinking that I was the better candidate they've given it to someone else. So back to jumping through hoops for no gain...

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 07/12/2020 21:29

Sometimes it just helps to have a thread to share our woes. And before anyone starts trying to do that thing people do where they try to make us count our blessings - I've a song for us all here

ColourMeExhausted · 07/12/2020 21:32

Yep. Nothing like what some of you are going through, but difficult day with DS3. Lost my shit several times with him, feeling like the world's worst parent. Had a disrupted night with him as he keeps waking. Poor DD5 didn't get much of a look in today. Not on the wine but I've comfort scoffed myself into a state of self loathing. And it's so bloody cold.

Tomorrow has to better right?? Flowers for you all.

TheGonnagle · 07/12/2020 21:35

Yup, the cat had a hypoglycaemic episode this morning and has been hospitalised at the (excruciatingly expensive) vets. The van needed a new clutch so we’re £500 worse off for something boring. The weather is atrocious and I’ve been stuck in the house all day. Fingers crossed for a better day tomorrow eh?

Elphame · 07/12/2020 21:36

Yes horrible. I'm so ready to see the back of 2020. It can't come soon enough for me

Bippitybop · 07/12/2020 21:37

Shit day here too. Cold and foggy, shit behaviour from children, shit parenting. So I’ve eaten a shit load of rubbish and consequently feel pretty shit. Better day tomorrow everyone please!

midsummabreak · 07/12/2020 21:37
  • @OhToBeASeahorse* don’t beat yourself up anymore about today’s parenting, though it wasn’t how you meant it to be. We have all been there, that is a certainty. Yes I too have sat there, realising that our poor children sometimes could do with a replacement parent. Grin You obviously care very much about your children’s wellbeing or you wouldn’t be so disappointed in yourself. Every mistake is an opportunity grow and all that !! Take it easy on yourself it’s been a shit year with extra pressure. We are all only human BrewFlowers
cuteglasses · 07/12/2020 21:37

I have wisdom tooth infection 😖

loubieloo4 · 07/12/2020 21:40

The shittest of days here also. Dh (40) has stage 4 terminal cancer and had a really bad night last night due to pain but bloody refused to take the oramorph he is prescribed, didn't get out of bed until 2pm after refusing to take his morning meds. He's now in a shit mood and giving us all the silent treatment.

I have so had enough ☹️
(I do love him dearly and know it's so hard for him, and I probably sound like the worst selfish wife ever)

Runningshorts · 07/12/2020 21:44

Yes I feel like a terrible parent today. Feel like I'm failing them and it's so difficult during this shitty year while I'm stretched in every direction and their world has shrunk down Sad
Tomorrow will be a better day.

Lovemusic33 · 07/12/2020 21:44

Yes, stuck at home with dd, only trip out was to get her a covid test that school have asked for even though she doesn’t really have covid symptoms, spent the day watching rubbish tv and listening to dd telling me how bored she is. I had to take the day off work and now can’t work until she goes back to school. I’m sure many are in the same boat but it is shit.
