He would have celebrated his eightieth birthday in October. I wonder how he would have spent those years had he lived ? He, Yoko and Sean were already moving towards a life of simple domesticity in New York and there was already about a six year gap between his new albums (Walls and Bridges in 1974 then Double Fantasy in 1980). I think he would have continued a relatively low profile life, making new music occasionally and perhaps speaking up for the Peace movement he'd championed several years before his death.

That's just my twopenn'orth anyway. We will never know for sure.

Oh how weird, I didn't realise it was this date... I turned 40 at the weekend, so my mum was probably still in hospital with me!

Unfortunately I agree with previous posters that he would have likely become an annoying old man who said controversial things to stay relevant. Or died of a drug overdose at some point. He wasn't exactly a nice man.

@OnceUponAMidnightBeery

Wasn’t it the 8th December, not the 2nd?

Every time I read extensive evidence of what a crap human being he was, I am brought up short by the music. He really was incredibly talented. It's hard to imagine he'd have had a good second half of life but lots of absolute waster muso men seem to manage it. I don't think he'd still be with YO though.

@Sparklingbrook oh thank god, I thought I was losing it, or had accidentally slept through a week 🤦🏻‍♀️
