Balsam Hill tree - Rubbish!!

For the past few years I have wanted a balsam hill tree. I had read so many good things about them and had often spent £50-£70 on a real tree to then dump in my compost bin in January.

I didn't want to splash too much cash so I bought one that was £200.

Well it was rubbish!!! It's going straight back on Monday. I have replaced it today with a £40 real one.

Anyone else not pleased with theirs?

I have 2 two Balsam Hill trees which I've had a few years. One is better quality (and more expensive) than the other, and they both take a lot of arranging to look good. Close up I'm not a lover of them, but once decorated I'm happy with them.

@Anordinarymum

It's a Balsam Hill one. I spoke to them on Monday and they said DPD has gone doolally, basically.

So this morning I've been trying to call them (their website says they have extended hours from 8am at the moment but their phone lines would suggest otherwise) and speak to them on live chat but no human advisors are available.

I'm rapidly losing my rag!!

DPD are using old tracking numbers from previous customers, so it's impossible to track your order.

I have bought one this year and it is the easiest and nicest pre lit tree i have had, very pleased with it

I love my balsam hill tree...I'm sorry you were disappointed. Your real one does look very lovely though!

We’ve decided to sell ours next year and go back to a real one

Op, you need to open up and separate all the branches and sort of puff it up/out. Fake trees are flattened down for shipping and storage. They need a bit of attention and work when you put them up, then add lights and lots of decs.

I got my fake tree ,in 2006, in a Jan sale from a garden centre for £150 ( was £250 before sale) it still looks lovely today. It always looks flat when i first take it out as i have done that to pack it away. I have bought additional trees over the years ,as felt this too large but always come back to this one. I think if you spend a bit of time opening and separating all the branches it would look more full. I have had real trees in the past but cannot get on with them dying early and dropping needles everywhere! I also think a darker green fake tree looks better/richer /fuller than a lighter green but thats just my preference.

For comparison Op here is another tree we have up. Got this one 5 yrs ago from Homebase for approx £45 before xmas and not in sale. Smaller more narrow tree for a smaller room. Looks similar to your BH one. Based on that, i do not think what you bought was worth the money, even floofed up!
