I’ll start

Brand new baby born...size of a 3 month old, wide awake and smiling

Always annoys me

People arriving home and all the lights are already on.

Soubriquet · 05/12/2020 19:23

People get hurt falling over, tripping up, you name it...and they get up completely fine

No aches and pains, no blood or bruises.

People leaving ALL of the house lights on when they go out. Their electricity bills must be huge!

Ordinary people who seem to know how to drive a car at breakneck speed through narrow streets, smashing into everything whilst being shot at. Then emerging unscathed and immediately knowing where to seek shelter. Speaking the local foreign language and being able to outsmart several top spys/killers/secret service types. All whilst not really understanding why they are there or what they have become involved in. They merely went to work one day and look what happened.

LindaEllen · 05/12/2020 19:32

@Iwantacookie

Noone ever mispronounces a word, forgets what they were going to say unless it's part of the plot. The also never catch clothes on door handles.
I constantly catch my sleeves on door handles 😂😂
Nospringchickendipper · 05/12/2020 19:37

Always finding a parking space outside a court house or police station.
Walking down the middle of a road.

JeSuisPrest · 05/12/2020 19:44

Being able to park literally anywhere they want and a space always available. Visiting someone in hospital - Park right outside, not in a multi story a 10 minute walk away and scrabble around for change. Swanky London Hotel- loads of spaces right outside, no lines here, no siree, school car park or doctors surgery, hundreds of empty spaces, nipping to a local high street shop for some olives and crusty bread (never a Spar shop for Dortitos and a Mars Bar) - loads of on road spaces and not a parking meter in sight.

And mobile phones that never need charging unless them running out of charge is integral to the plot.

JeSuisPrest · 05/12/2020 19:46

@Nospringchickendipper You got there before me Grin

Stonecrop · 05/12/2020 19:54

In a fight when the baddies stand around taking turns to fight the goodie one at a time 🙄

Stonecrop · 05/12/2020 19:55

And when goodie is running away and baddies are closing in the jumps to another camera angle and they’re further away again closing in ..

Stonecrop · 05/12/2020 19:57

Also when the characters overly explain what is going on in the dialogue, far more than they would in that situation as they are stood there with people who are already briefed, for the sake of the audience but in a really obvious way

Sussexbonfireviking · 05/12/2020 19:59

@Grimbot

When people order food or a drink in a restaurant, take about 1 bite or 1 sip and leave the rest. I can’t imagine doing that 😂

Also women giving birth that moan slightly and then the baby is out in 1 push.

My youngest came out in 3 pushes...
MerchantOfVenom · 05/12/2020 20:03

I know this is light-hearted and I’m missing the point...

But who wants to watch, for example, someone looking for a car park? Or eating a full meal making small talk. Or hearing people mispronounce words? Confused

I’d be far more (rationally) annoyed by all that needless waffle!

SinkGirl · 05/12/2020 20:03

When a man gets viciously beaten and he has a few neat cuts and maybe a bruise, rather than the weirdly deformed swollen face you get in real life if you injure your face.

Twospaniels · 05/12/2020 20:07

When viewed from the front the woman’s hair is over the front of her shoulder, but when viewed from the back, it’s all at the back

Horses neighing for no reason. They don’t neigh when you set off at a trot generally speaking.

Leaving home with all their worldly goods in a smallish bag that is clearly not at all full or heavy

Children are never around unless in the actual scene for some reason.

Ross in Friends, his son Ben seemed to disappear after he turned about 6 yrs old.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 05/12/2020 20:07

@PoppyOppy

If there's any train scenes my train-obsessed DH will stop the film/show and tell me all the reasons why it's incorrect.

I hate Downton Abbey or Heartbeat when they mention a train journey... Grin

We should get our dhs together, @PoppyOppy - mine is just as bad. They can enjoy themselves critiquing all the little details, while we drink gin and ignore them!
adawong · 05/12/2020 20:08

Idris bloody Elba I swear he has been in every film made in the last 15 years.

Whenever anyone leaves a shop they always have a baguette in their bag.

SimonJT · 05/12/2020 20:09

People never use toothpaste when brushing their teeth, when I brush mine its all over my beard and runs down my arm.

user1471523870 · 05/12/2020 20:10

Driving never watching the street.
Stabbing food in the plate but it never reaches the mouth.
People having sex and covering themselves with the bedsheets.

foxyknoxy30 · 05/12/2020 20:44

The fact they always wear shoes in the house grab some slippers people

Thefirstnohell · 05/12/2020 20:55

It annoys me when an actor with a limited range who is not quite up to the job suddenly lowers their voice and starts whispering dramatic dialogue when they are supposedly upset. You can almost hear the drama coach in the background going "dont shout, lowering your voice will intensify the drama".

Not films but the Olivia Benson character in SVU does this all the time. I used to really like her but after my friend pointed out the whispering thing I can't watch it any more.

InterfectoremVulpes · 05/12/2020 21:07

Whenever someone needs to do something on a computer or laptop, they just press a button and it start using it immediately - no waiting for it to boot up or for stuff to load or connect.

imamearcat · 06/12/2020 00:47

They have so many situations where people are jilted at the alter. Does that ever happen in RL?

stayathomer · 06/12/2020 07:19

In rom coms that the main (single) characters are never ever ever average looking, they're always gorgeous. And the best friend is always the different looking one.
Also when a film didn't need a romance but they threw the two lead characters together anyway.
That kids are either wide eyed and wondrous or really bratty, no middle ground.
By the way, LOVE this thread!!!!!

vampirethriller · 06/12/2020 07:32

When someone picks up a blatantly empty suitcase. Act like it's got something in it or put a couple of jumpers in. It looks so silly empty.
