How can I have milk in my office with no fridge?

I would love a kettle or coffee machine in my little office but don't have a kitchen nearby to store the milk and no room for a mini fridge.

What do you all do? I'm not a fan of black coffee or tea.

UHT only comes in big cartons doesn't it and once opened I don't have a fridge. How do I have a coffee in the daytime?

Can you get a little vacuum flask or tight-sealing little pot (insulate in bubblewrap) to bring fresh milk with you every day?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/12/2020 09:30

You can buy little individual sachets of UHT in places like b&m? I used to buy these from Tesco too, they have more in than a sachet

some shops maybe home bargains and b&m do the UHT in small single use cartons like you get in take away cafes
or take milk in a chilly like bottle to keep cold

Or coffee mate (i personally don't like it but it's like a milk powdered 'creamer' )

providentglue · 05/12/2020 09:33

Just take milk in a flask?

InterfectoremVulpes · 05/12/2020 09:34

You could put it outside on the windowsill but a pint of milk won't go off if its left out of the fridge for a few hours so should be fine on your desk.

sosotired1 · 05/12/2020 09:34

Small coolbag with ice packs in for the milk plus several flasks of coffee so you have enough for the day (once opened they cool down). Contigo loops are very good.

NannyR · 05/12/2020 09:35

Milk in a flask should be fine, just take what you need for the day.

Di11y · 05/12/2020 09:35

Yep a thermos will keep it cold for 6-8 hours.

Mycatismadeofstringcheese · 05/12/2020 09:37

A small metal water bottle will keep some cold enough to last during the day.

That’s what we used when we had building work done and limited fridge access.

Noomgip · 05/12/2020 09:37

Put it outside/ on windowsill. That's what we used to do in our old office before kitchen was sorted. Would be fine this time of year.

Midlandsmum23 · 05/12/2020 09:37

I believe that pasteurised milk keeps for up to 24 hours at room temperature so why not just bring what you need from home each day?

Hercwasonaroll · 05/12/2020 09:39

Flask or insulated bottle.

You'll need a tap for water too...

Pease dont do this - the plastic waste is enormous! Get yourself a small vacuum flask and take fresh milk in each day.

Perhaps milk in a flask for everyday. But as an emergency stock, some of those lacto free pods of milk. I get them for DP, as he is lacto free and you really can’t taste the difference.

AuditAngel · 05/12/2020 09:40

Sainsbury’s do Lactofree long life milk in little pyramid “cartons”

MrsTumbletap · 05/12/2020 10:00

I did get some of those little portioned ones from B&M actually, but they went off so quickly and I poured off milky lumps into my coffee.

My window doesn't open wide enough to rest it on it, it opens a few centimetres.

Looks like I should buy a little flask then, I wasn't sure it would last all day without going a bit gross by 4pm. I think I just have the milk must stay cold thought in my brain. But if some of you do this and it tastes alright it must be true!

Does anyone have 'little' flask reconmendation? I only need enough for 2 portions of milk a day.

Or would a chilli's type water bottle work?

I love milky coffee, and since lockdown I have a large Marvel in the house, I do put quiet a bit of it in my coffee, but when I really didn't want to go to the shops it was a life saver...
You could just keep some in your drawn in a ziplock bag.

Yes.
NekoShiro · 05/12/2020 10:10

Powdered milk. It's a tub of powder and you add a teaspoon to you're drink and it tastes perfectly normal, you can make it up into milk but I don't bother, I just add spoonfuls to drinks or cooking. I haven't bought liquid milk for like 8 months.

Highfalutinlootin · 05/12/2020 10:11

Just buy powdered milk. It keeps with no refrigeration for months, and you just add it directly to the coffee.

NannyR · 05/12/2020 10:11

I have a tiny Thermos stainless steel flask that holds one mug of coffee, I think it's 350ml. I bought it at TKMaxx a couple of years ago.

Skipsurvey · 05/12/2020 10:12

a mini fridge is very small though

providentglue · 05/12/2020 10:13

You don't even need a little flask you can make the coffee, complete with milk and take the complete drink in the flask
