How can I have milk in my office with no fridge?

I would love a kettle or coffee machine in my little office but don't have a kitchen nearby to store the milk and no room for a mini fridge.

What do you all do? I'm not a fan of black coffee or tea.

UHT only comes in big cartons doesn't it and once opened I don't have a fridge. How do I have a coffee in the daytime?

I came in to say a chilly type bottle. Icy cold milk will stay cold for a good 12 hours. If not more. You can buy smaller ones. Or you could buy a can cooler thing. You put it in the freezer and pop the milk bottle through it. It's like a cold insulated jacket.

mini fridges are expensive.
you need a good thermos for your milk

Blastandbollocks · 05/12/2020 10:19

I got a Sparrow bottle and it keeps my coffee hot for 10-11 hours and drinkable (if not super hot) until the next day.

The 1l bottle does about 4 large mugs, so I just take my own so I don't need a kettle.

B&M do the little cartons- 10 for 29p

Impatientwino · 05/12/2020 13:21

If you only need enough for two portions a day I would freeze it in ice cube trays, pop out a few cubes a day and take in little pots and experiment how long it takes to defrost and how long they stay cold for. Sistema do packs of three small round pots.

Alternatively I'd use a chillys bottle!

Kenco coffee sachets. You don’t need milk with them and they stay fresh.

I had a 1 pint plastic container and just filled it with enough milk daily for my needs. Which are normally done within 3 hours of arrival, so not soon enough for the milk to go off. There are slightly cooler places in the office to keep it, too. Also tried powdered milk but that was desperate measures. Rinse the plastic container out daily.

Ellmau · 05/12/2020 14:23

Yea to the chilly, they really work. I left one in a hot car all day in the summer and the contents were still cold.

sueelleker · 05/12/2020 18:33

[quote thenewaveragebear1983]You can buy little individual sachets of UHT in places like b&m? I used to buy these from Tesco too, they have more in than a sachet

I've bought them in Poundland as well; or you could use powdered milk or coffee creamer, depending on how rich you like your milk.

ExpensivelyDecorated · 05/12/2020 18:42

Yes to a Chilly's bottle.

KitKat1985 · 05/12/2020 18:46

Buy a good thermos flask (or a couple of good thermos flasks) and fill with tea before going to work. When I go out for the day I make a flask up of tea (with milk) and it keeps so hot it's still steaming hot when I pour it even hours later. No need to faff around then with making tea, just pour yourself a cup as and when you want one.

peakotter · 05/12/2020 18:49

Freeze it.

Ice cube tray at home. Pop a few in a bottle each morning. Or freeze a small amount in a plastic bottle.

1FootInTheRave · 05/12/2020 18:51

I take the sachets of coffee with powdered milk when I'm in different clinics.

Roo1000 · 05/12/2020 18:52

Get a Tassimo machine for your office...no fresh milk required and does tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

whatnow41 · 05/12/2020 18:59

Came here to say freeze it too. Ice cube tray is perfect and as it melts it's still cold by the end of the day if you put them in to a small soup flask. If it's not melted, a few cubes in your coffee will soon melt away.

BashfulClam · 05/12/2020 19:07

I use coffee mate powder.

Branleuse · 05/12/2020 19:13

Uht milk stays fine out of the fridge for longer than fresh milk too. You can get UHT with a screw cap and take it home at the end of the day

safariboot · 05/12/2020 19:58

Thermos or other insulated bottle is the way I would go. If it needs some help, make some milk ice cubes and drop a couple in the bottle.

violetbunny · 05/12/2020 20:21

Milk powder? Just keep in an airtight tin.

QueenOfPain · 05/12/2020 20:23

The metal drinks bottles by Chilly’s keep drinks cold for 24hrs, so you could take your milk in one of those.

Danni91 · 08/12/2020 16:05

I agree with PP and using coffee mate. If you only want 2 coffees a day mind and dont like coffee mate i would just go for broke and do a week of black coffee, you do really do get used too it very fast!
