[Lighthearted]

As mums we're kindof expected to be good at everything but I am fed up of this unrealistic standard.

I'll admit I'm terrible at decorating, keeping things organised and, sadly, time keeping.

Thought of more..

Sewing
DIY
Sports
Ironing
Managing money

Might be best to ask what I am good at..

BikeRunSki · 29/11/2020 21:16

Another one for imaginative play
Drawing
Sewing and Knitting. Ive pretty good at imagining how to make a fancy dress outfit, just rubbish at making it happen

Namechange8471 · 29/11/2020 21:19

Driving, I'm still learning and god it's hard.

Fuckitsstillraining · 29/11/2020 21:25

Housework, I can do it, I just hate it. Its repetitive and boring. Weirdly when I had my own house and it was just my son and I the house was always clean and tidy and looked nice, I got married and moved 120 miles to husbands area, son moved back to where I'm from and 12 years later I still have no affiliation for our house or the area so maybe that's the problem

Ellieboolou33 · 29/11/2020 21:34
@Floralnomad - i hate cutting in. I have no aptitude for being neat so the paint goes where it goes and then dp tidies it up.

I cant hang wallpaper for toffee. I have no idea about where to put ornaments or where to put furniture or how best to hang photos.

I wish i had the money for an interior designer.

I go to ikea and b&q but i cant translate what theyve done into my home.

Its neat enough, (apart from when Im cooking - kitchen looks like a bombs hit it) just very shell-y. Not home-y.
I can on to say exactly this!

I've got mood boards, Pinterest etc but I can apply any of the amazing ideas to my house!

Also I'm crap at sewing

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 29/11/2020 21:35

Imaginative play! Absolutely crap at it. The kids have even learned not to ask me. I can't even pretend to be a monster and chase them around the house. Doll play is out of the question. Same with crafts. I subscribe to toucan boxes. We have a wonderful time each week doing crafts from these boxes. I love it. All instructions and and equipment included.

I love board games.

Oh shit at cooking too. Nobody allows me to cook. My DP was rushed to hospital a couple of years ago. My then 5 year old shouted to her dad 'don't worry about dinner, I will help mummy' my DP replied 'get a takeaway' 😂
I can actually produce a lovely meal, but my stress levels go so high. Even a bacon sarnie will make my blood pressure rise!

wildthingsinthenight · 29/11/2020 21:36

Cleaning. And technology

Jellybum2019 · 29/11/2020 21:38

Arranging flowers and filing my nails! I do them and think they look acceptable, and the look at them 5 minutes later and think my goodness what was I thinking they look terrible!

yeOldeTrout · 29/11/2020 21:40

Interior decorating.
Singing. Music. Acting. Anything performance-based, basically.
Cleaning.
I'm out of practice at cooking so mediocre at that.
Used to be able to bake -- no more.
Fairly mechanically declined.

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 29/11/2020 21:47

Can't draw at all. Shit at all that crafty stuff.

lilfoxfur · 29/11/2020 21:48

Life. Never seem to be doing it right

CarolinaWeeper · 29/11/2020 21:50

I am clumsy and trip over my own feet so am rubbish at playing sports.

I can't do hair (either other people's or my own) for toffee.

BritInAus · 29/11/2020 22:01

Wrapping presents neatly

brawse · 29/11/2020 22:03

Running. I really, and I mean really struggle.

haircutsRus · 29/11/2020 22:27

I am chronically untidy and have a complete lack of motivation to do anything about it.

foreverandalways · 29/11/2020 22:30

Keeping my husband happy so it seems 😕

Coldbatteredpuddings · 29/11/2020 22:34

Remembering school admin, I'm awful at it. You know that one kid that always turns up in uniform on a no uniform Day? That's my child Blush

Doublebubblebubble · 29/11/2020 23:27

@Coldbatteredpuddings are you me??

Every single time. Its like do you go back home and change them or do you say your sorry whilst your 10 year old shrugs her shoulders and rolls her eyes at you?

Being patient. Which is unfortunate. Living with my DC requires more patience than I have, really 🤣 poor them.

ghostmous3 · 30/11/2020 01:21

I'm good at nothing

Pipandmum · 30/11/2020 04:16

I can't sing. I'd love to be able to, but even though my mum had a lovely voice it bypassed the next generation. My kids can though.
As for practical stuff I'm a terrible procrastinator. I have to tell myself to do something every day for about two weeks before I get round to it.

Tavannach · 30/11/2020 04:35

Singing - I'd live to be good at it, but I'm crap. I have to wait till there's nobody in, and even then the cat goes out of the room.

@popshops Don't shoot into the light. Also, the 'rule of thirds' - use the grid on the camera.

Tavannach · 30/11/2020 04:35
