[Lighthearted]

As mums we're kindof expected to be good at everything but I am fed up of this unrealistic standard.

I'll admit I'm terrible at decorating, keeping things organised and, sadly, time keeping.

@PlateTectonics I'm alright directionally but my problem is - if you can call it this, i hate short cuts when driving. I love driving so I'll always opt for the longest route, and sometimes, totally unintentionally I'll accidentally go into the wrong lane and go on an adventure. I'm always safe when doing it though.

Making decisions

thedogandthecat · 29/11/2020 20:10

Baking. I am an excellent cook, but the second I have to bake; it's like an episode of Mr Bean

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 29/11/2020 20:14

Cutting out with scissors, which is unlucky as I work in preschool and have to cut out a lot of stuff! I've never got any better at it.

Also bad at stopping my face betraying what I'm actually thinking.

june2007 · 29/11/2020 20:20

How long have you got? Basicaly lots.

Weekends · 29/11/2020 20:28

Well I've read everyone else's so far and I'm only any good at 2 of the things mentioned. Never mind!
Could list a million other things but mine from today will be keeping to planned budget for DD Xmas presents - may be bankrupt by new year. Just out a stop to it now!

Weekends · 29/11/2020 20:28

Must put a stop to it.

AlphaJura · 29/11/2020 20:31

Mental arithmetic

popshops · 29/11/2020 20:33

Photography. Other people have great pictures that they have taken of their children but mine are always poorly composed.

RosesAndHellebores · 29/11/2020 20:35

All the things valued by schools:

Singing
Acting
Musical instruments
Drawing/Art
Ball games
Team Sports
Athletics

Funnily enough I proved very very good at working in the real world. Many of the school stars didn't. not bitter at all

DuckingFogg · 29/11/2020 20:39

Life most days.

Having just done a maths assessment for a course I'm doing it would seem maths is high on the list, I mean I had to ask DD what half the terms they used were, and there were a lot of wtf moments.
That and driving. 5 failed tests, thousands spent on lessons and extra tuition. I've taken the hint and the bus! I'm not the most coordinated of people anyway, it really shows behind the wheel though, and no, I don't scrounge lifts before anyone starts 😊

TheCatsWhisker · 29/11/2020 20:46

Rice, cannot cook the bloody stuff. Had twenty zillion 'fail safe' recipes but it is always overcooked yet still raw.

Use packet stuff now 😃

bluechameleon · 29/11/2020 20:50

Catching, dancing and being tidy

Floralnomad · 29/11/2020 20:52

Role play - be it with children or in a work environment , I just can’t do it .
Decorating - my painting is so bad that I’m not even allowed to paint the stables , obviously a bad paint job would offend the horse !

Nohomemadecandles · 29/11/2020 20:56

@thismeansnothing

Using cling film. How the hell do you even use that jaggedy bit on the box to 'cut' it without it resticking to itself or screwing itself back up?! Pissed me off everytime I even attempt to use it
Try putting the box towards the edge of the work surface so you pull downwards.

Or bin it and use wax wraps. Better for the earth anyway!

I can't use a piping bag. Or ride a bike.

BabloHoney · 29/11/2020 20:59

Wrapping presents.. always looks like the wrapping paper and the sellotape have had a right old punch up.

I’m also trying to learn crochet and it’s going... slowly.

Doublebubblebubble · 29/11/2020 21:00

@Floralnomad - i hate cutting in. I have no aptitude for being neat so the paint goes where it goes and then dp tidies it up.

I cant hang wallpaper for toffee. I have no idea about where to put ornaments or where to put furniture or how best to hang photos.

I wish i had the money for an interior designer.

I go to ikea and b&q but i cant translate what theyve done into my home.

Its neat enough, (apart from when Im cooking - kitchen looks like a bombs hit it) just very shell-y. Not home-y.

Cleaning, and making biscuits.

Wherearefoxssocks · 29/11/2020 21:02

This could be a long list, so I'll go with the top 5:

  • anything arty/crafty. I couldn't manage a decent bloody rainbow to stick in the window
  • any sport. Seriously, ANY.
  • parking
  • no sense of direction
  • keeping the house tidy (although I'm really organised when it comes to other stuff)
sqirrelfriends · 29/11/2020 21:03

Ironing
Parking
Utilities, I get really confused

AgeLikeWine · 29/11/2020 21:03

I can’t sing, can’t dance and I’m completely hopeless at anything artistic or creative.

Fortunately, creativity isn’t required in my job.

motorcyclenumptiness · 29/11/2020 21:04

Knitting and job applications

Ihatesandwiches · 29/11/2020 21:10

I can relate to so many!
Job interviews
Cling film
Putting away clean clothes (washing, drying, folding, ironing fine... But putting them away!? Too too much)
Using a tin opener.
But I'm a packed lunch ninja :-)

U2HasTheEdge · 29/11/2020 21:12

Maths
Geography
Parking
Dancing
Drawing
Handwriting
No sense of direction
Finding things
Housework

JiltedJohnsJulie · 29/11/2020 21:13

Pastry.
