Would you go on a pre Christmas weekend break if you could?

Anyone?

Nope, not really.

tectonicplates · 29/11/2020 12:53

I wish we could, but realistically it's very unlikely to be allowed.

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 29/11/2020 13:01

We’ve got a UK break booked. It’s nit been cancelled and the hotel is open so yep, we’re going! Are you hoping to book something?

MerlotChiantiMontepulicano · 29/11/2020 13:01

We already have something booked for the weekend before Christmas, we're aiming to still go.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 29/11/2020 13:07

No, there's always so much to do! Actually over Christmas, yes, or the week after.

Wildernesstips · 29/11/2020 13:14

I have something booked the weekend before Christmas as it’s also my birthday. Just hoping can still go.

Toomanycats99 · 29/11/2020 13:17

I have a night in central London and Panto booked. Still planning to go.

Chemenger · 29/11/2020 13:18

I would really love a night in a nice hotel with lovely food and four walls that I haven’t been looking at for the last 9 months. Even if it was just a couple of miles up the road.

larrythelizard · 29/11/2020 13:22

Yes I would love to. Nothing booked and no chance of DH being ok with it as he's much more cautious than me of covid.

Lepetitpiggy · 29/11/2020 13:24

Oh God yes! We had a night away the work before Lockdown 2 and it was so good being by the sea, just away from all the nonsense.

Oly4 · 29/11/2020 13:28

Yes can’t wait, tier 2

ExpensivelyDecorated · 29/11/2020 13:28

No, we've done it a couple of times in the past but found we miss out on too many things going on at home such as carol services and parties (maybe not the same this year, but we don't want to because of covid this year).

BiddyPop · 29/11/2020 13:35

I would love it. But not even thinking about it. Too busy at work. Nothing open. Don’t want to risk ourselves or cause a spread of virus.

If we go anywhere different to the past 3 months (WFH, drop dd to/from school and hockey, food shopping and my Cub Scout meetings) - it will be to go visit our families who we haven’t seen since July and only twice this year.

Viv0321 · 29/11/2020 13:40

We are hoping to stay in hotel near windsor for a few nights!

OP posts:
Waxonwaxoff0 · 29/11/2020 13:47

Yes, but I'm tier 3 so can't.

Viv0321 · 29/11/2020 13:48

Does anyone think it’s risky then due to COVID?

OP posts:
Toomanycats99 · 29/11/2020 13:56

Not sure if it's any more risky than shopping locally given it's about 14 miles from me and I will also probably be there for work before then

ExpensivelyDecorated · 29/11/2020 14:09

The thing is, it might not be any riskier than being at home, but the things its nice to do such as Christmas markets and theatre are either not open at all or severely restricted. If the weather is fine it's nice to go on walks etc but if it rains then there aren't going to be too many options this year, unless you are happy to put your feet up in a hotel and just chill (which I appreciate many would enjoy but its not for us).

Doublebubblebubble · 29/11/2020 16:19

@Viv0321 for me, it just isn't worth the risk of covid right now.

Not trying to be argumentative but there is a reason we keep going into lockdown and varying tiers and people are dying horrible deaths (I've had 3 people die of this) and I'd argue that unnecessary trips away are part of the problem.

If you don't mind my asking -what is the rush? Why not have a congratulatory trip after the vaccine?

yearinyearout · 29/11/2020 16:35

We are going away for a week. Can't wait for a change of scenery. Staying in a cottage and will be walking most of the time so not at any extra risk than staying at home.

RumJerrySailorRum · 29/11/2020 16:58

I've had to cancel an annual pre Xmas weekend that I've been doing for 15 years.

We have also had to cancel a caravan trip.

We are Tier 3, altho our area has lower statistics than London which is just a bloody farce and reinstates the north/south divide so not our choice to cancel.

MrsDThomas · 29/11/2020 17:02

I have a night away booked next weekend. Cant wait!

AuntieMarys · 29/11/2020 17:06

Sadly just had to cancel London trip. Gutted...the 8th trip cancelled this year.

Bloodybridget · 29/11/2020 17:50

Yes, I wish! But as I am having chemo and DP has a broken ankle (cast on til 21st), no chance Sad
