There are shitloads if bengals in rescue or up for rehoming.

There’s a bengal rehoming fb group and there are daily posts. If you are determined to get one try there rather than a breeder.

They’re there for a reason though. Often because a well meaning bengal owner has decided to get a Bengal company in the hope of them entertaining each other and being less demanding. Only to find they now have twice the demand, and territorial pissing on things as well.

Only get one if you value your electrics and soft furnishings.

I’d check local cat rescues first though.

He does! Ours was called peter by the breeder but we renamed him Bertie. Peter doesn’t look 19 at all, he’s got plenty of muscle left.

i have had 3 bengals over the yers, my last one died 3 years ago aged 14, she was the lovliest affectionate cat, but someone upthread said, they seem to like to use soft furnishings as toilets
I put up with it for all her life, had to put plastic sheeting uner everything, but i couldn't have parted with her,
She was a direct decendant of the very first bengal
At the same time i had 3 tonkinese cats and she would snuggle down with them, not a nasty bone in her body, but she was always a house cat, until about 6 years old when she was allowed in the garden on her own, but never tried to go away
I have seen prices being asked for them now, she cost me £350, ut that was17 years ago, wouldn't pay the prices now

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/11/2020 16:12

Oh I see, he’s not a peter 🤦🏻‍♀️

@Lardlizard
Ask for this thread to be moved to the litter tray. You'll get more balanced views.

Madbengalmum · 29/11/2020 16:17

Fluffy, no problem, he is a Pip, but Peter Pan sometimes!

AmIAWeed · 29/11/2020 16:36

@boatyardblues @TartanPyjamas just seen both your comments - to assure you the chicken was not dead. I saw our cat with the chicken, cat let go, I picked up the chicken who remained in crouching position then went door to door to find the owner.
Said owner then returned with a mate when my husband was at work to threaten me. That's what I found so funny. 2 old men threatening to shoot me and the cat when a cat is being a cat - just with a bigger bird

They’re beautiful animals but they’re not cats. They’re something else entirely wearing a cat costume.

A woman at work breeds them to show and my friend had one of the cats that couldn’t be shown. It was a never ending litany of problems for her. Even worse was one day she never came home and left my friend heartbroken at the prospect that she’d been injured or harmed.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/11/2020 17:50

It’s a Jack Russell in a spotty onesie.

MacDuffsMuff · 29/11/2020 18:02

They're very beautiful aren't they, I'm only here for the cat pictures.

I don't know anything about the breed other than the fact the local facebook page is practically dedicated to one particular bengal who literally terrorises the other cats in the neighbourhood. He also cornered a german shepherd in his own garden and his owner had to rescue him by using a water pistol on the cat, who promptly attacked him and ripped his trousers. You can imagine the drama. There was a video an everything. Anyhoo ...

We have Bengal x Ragdoll litter brothers. They were rescues from a cat breeder hoarding situation, I brought them home from work at 7 weeks old. They look like big Bengals but got more of the Ragdoll temperament, they're quite vocal but they're very laid back, affectionate and friendly boys. They're very clean, not destructive, and they get on really well with our dogs. They go out in our secure back garden but cats aren't allowed outdoors here off your own property (we're in Canada). I have quite a few Bengals on my client list, I don't usually find them too challenging to deal with but if they have to be kept in you can usually hear them expressing their displeasure in the cat room from way down the corridor! If you're set on getting one I would research reputable breeders, ask lots of questions and meet their cats so that you know what you're getting into before you take the plunge.

Sideorderofchips · 29/11/2020 18:44

I have a part main coon. I would recommend main coon crosses. He is the dopiest cat in the world. But he is massive!

NotPaloma · 29/11/2020 18:46

Look at baxtercoolcat on insta for Bengal pics.

Loving everyones the spotty kitty pictures thankyou.

JaggyJumper · 30/11/2020 09:37

I have a 2 year old Bengal and he’s the sweetest cat I’ve met. Does always want to be involved so if you move rooms even if he’s sleeping he needs to come. I’ve not been in the toilet on my own since! Definitely more dog like in that sense and loves to play fetch but never had the issues in this thread. He’s a bit vocal but it’s good conversation and never at night. Though he’s not allowed in our room when we are sleeping because he has a thing about feet under covers

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/11/2020 10:00

Their a lifestyle choice as much as a pet.

That's so true Grin.
Fluffycloudland77 · 30/11/2020 16:31

The first and last thing I did every single night was attend to the cat, from feeding his breakfast and hoping he’d not done a wee on the hob in the morning to doing him two hot water bottles every night.

Lardlizard · 30/11/2020 21:17

What happened if he didn’t get his hit water bottle ?
