Had severe pain all evening. It's just as bad this morning and I'm struggling to move/crying it it. Had major op 7 weeks ago so more concerned than usually would be . A&E?

It sounds like an emergency to me, so I'd go.

RosieLemonade · 28/11/2020 07:52

No sorry. You will give 80 people covid if you go in. Sorry.

OkyDoke · 28/11/2020 07:52

Yes, go

Of course you can and should!

Howmanysleepsnow · 28/11/2020 07:56

Yes, go. (I work in A&E)

wafflyversatile · 28/11/2020 07:57

I'd recommendcalliing 111 first. They can call ahead.

My lodger ended up doing this last week when they refused to see him with just a text referral from his GP! Apparently he should have made an appointment for him.

Dinosaur19 · 28/11/2020 08:12

Yes go!!

feelingveryvenemousandangry · 28/11/2020 09:19

Just done a wee sample that had lots of floaty bits in it

pinkbalconyrailing · 28/11/2020 09:21

call 111
a gp appointment might be more appropriate, but as we are not medical proffessionals we can't tell how serious it is.

peboh · 28/11/2020 09:23

I would say it depends on the level of pain. Can you manage waiting for a gp appointment, or a call back from 111? If not then go, that's what the emergency services are for. They are not just to care for covid patients.

CrochetToTheMoon · 28/11/2020 09:23

Yep A&E

peboh · 28/11/2020 09:23

@RosieLemonade

No sorry. You will give 80 people covid if you go in. Sorry.
I really hope this is sarcastic.

If I hadn't had a hysterectomy I'd be happy to see if it went away by itself tbf

Check your local A&E online - one I know of (Causesway Hospital) has publicised a “call first” initiative

Springersrock · 28/11/2020 09:30

I’d ring 111 first. We have an Urgent Treatment Centre as well as A&E

I took my daughter last week, called 111 first. They sent us to the UTC but they’d called ahead so they were expecting us and we went straight in rather than having to go through A&E first

formerbabe · 28/11/2020 09:32

Dear God, do some people really think we're not allowed to use A&E now?

Lostinacloud · 28/11/2020 09:35

We are all living this shit half life precisely so hospitals can still offer other services like A&E so without a doubt in my mind, in normal times if you would normally consider A&E appropriate then go and use it. Anyone suggesting otherwise has lost the plot.
Hope it’s nothing serious and that you feel better soon.

linerforlife · 28/11/2020 09:36

I work for the NHS. GO TO A&E.

feelingveryvenemousandangry · 28/11/2020 09:36

Thanks @Lostinacloud

Definitely go to A&E, they are open and usually have 2 entrances where you will be triaged first. Any tests needed will be done far quicker than trying to see a doctor. My husband went to A&E in April, they put him in a room on his own while they investigated.

Springersrock · 28/11/2020 09:39

I just found it much quicker to go through 111.

I took same daughter to A&E back in the summer. Sat in the waiting room for an hour, saw a nurse, got sent to the UTC

This time, rang 111, got sent straight to the UTC

It just cut the triage time in A&E

Tombero · 28/11/2020 09:55

It depends where you are geographically really. It sounds like you need to go to A&E but some areas now have 111 First which you should ring in the first instance. They will be able to then refer you to A&E.
If you live in an area where this is happening then if you just go straight to A&E I think you’ll need to go through the process at the entrance rather than be allowed straight into A&E.

TokyoSushi · 28/11/2020 09:56

Just go!

feelingveryvenemousandangry · 28/11/2020 14:58

I have been. I have a kidney infection.
