I can suddenly no longer tolerate my bra, have I totally lost it?

I am huge of nork (38 E). I usually wear a bra, yesterday I had to pull the car over and take it off because it was just wrong. I haven't put it on since (thank god for big jackets and big scarves). I feel A LOT better in myself weirdly... Has anyone else experienced this?

Oh yes! I hate wearing one these days too.

JoJoSM2 · 27/11/2020 14:25

I wouldn’t want to be seen without one...

Maybe try on different styles? Or at least vests with built in bras?

Anurulz · 27/11/2020 14:27

I have permanently moved to sports bras after my pregnancy.. I can identify with not being able to tolerate normals bras..

Yeah underwiring is now really painful for me

doctorhamster · 27/11/2020 14:28

You could be me. I'm a 38G and I ditched bras at the start of the first lockdown in March. I've taken to wearing sleep bras instead (look kind of like my 10 year olds crop tops!) I'm so much more comfortable and I don't even care that my knockers aren't hoiked up as much as they possibly should be. I've also embraced massive pants.

emmetgirl · 27/11/2020 14:29

I'm 36E and I HATE wearing a bra.

Sometimesonly · 27/11/2020 14:30

I haven't worn underwired for years. I tried one on the other day and it felt like a form of torture!

TheQueef · 27/11/2020 14:31

I wear the curvy kate luxe 32HH Sad
Since lockdown though I'm swinging free, fuck it, no more bra is the least covid can do.

AcornAutumn · 27/11/2020 14:32

I can’t bear them

I use a soft vest type bra, not sure what to call it

These days I actually go out without it and wear a big jumper and infinity scarf. If anyone notices or cares, I’d be surprised.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 27/11/2020 14:32

yeah, underwire isn't that comfy, I've treated myself to a molke bra, very comfortable, not as much uplift as underwired, but still good cleavage!

Lounging · 27/11/2020 14:32

I've just put on one of those vests and it's borderline if I can even keep that on. Its so odd. It's almost like some weird pressure points are being activated by anything remotely close. My bra and vest didn't actually HURT but suddenly I just cannot bear it,and not wearing it has made me psychologically and physically calmer. Odd.

Trussed up.
I hear ya.

Yes, it definitely makes me calmer and less stressed

I never liked bras that hoik it all up. I’m a DD.

Nuffaluff · 27/11/2020 14:34

I’ve ditched the underwires this year. I now wear M and S ‘sumptuously soft’ non-wired bras. Really nice and they hoik me up plenty well enough (only average norkage though 34D).

Gifgif · 27/11/2020 14:35

Me too.

viques · 27/11/2020 14:36

I was talking to a friend yesterday and we agreed that if we had shares in a bra company we’d be worried! I think lockdown has freed many of us from our shackles.

FatGirlShrinking · 27/11/2020 14:37

Not wanting to accidentally offend, but is it possible you've put on a little weight or even lost a little and the size has changed slightly.

I only need to go up or down a fraction and my underbust measurement changes and all of a sudden it feels like everything is digging and cutting in to me.

I've switched to sports and non-wired bras because I just can't stand the feeling of the 7nderwire anymore.

MedusasBadHairDay · 27/11/2020 14:38

I can't stand bras anymore, not now I'm used to going braless in lockdown. They just aren't comfortable, even the non wired "comfy" type.

cheeseismydownfall · 27/11/2020 14:51

Another one here that is now braless! Having unquestionably worn bras (usually underwired) for 30 years, I've just given up and it is so unbelievably comfortable. I realised I actually have permanent divots in my shoulders from the bastard things. Don't think I will ever go back (except for running etc).

Fuckitsstillraining · 27/11/2020 14:51

I've pretty severe fibromyalgia and a lot of the time wearing a bra just hurts to much. Hub knows I'm suffering when my tips are on inside out so the seams don't hurt me. Any health issues that could be bothering you?

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 27/11/2020 14:53

Any chance you could be pregnant?

Lounging · 27/11/2020 15:08

Im almost certainly not preggo as DH has had the snip. (Although panicking slightly now!) @FatGirlShrinking you're probably right, I'm up and down like a yoyo but I've never had this sense of aversion before. I am currently having a few health issues including stress so I suppose it could be some weird manifestation of that but have no idea.

I'm with you. Bloody hate bras and spent much lockdown all a-dangle, now can bear them even less. I invested in some of those Conturve elasticated ones. They're fairly comfy but the bit of padding moves around and is a bugger to set right. So my quest for a comfy, well fitted wire-less bra continues.

onemouseplace · 27/11/2020 15:15

Mine was murdering me the other day - it was digging in so much under one boob that I actually had a red mark and was really worried that I'd gained a catastrophic amount of weight in a very short time.

It actually turned out that the underwire on the other boob had snapped, meaning the delicate balance of my trussed up norkage had been thrown out.

Flowersmakemyday · 27/11/2020 15:16

I only wear a bra if I really have to now. Certainly being in lockdown has made a difference. Like you I just feel so constrained and uncomfortable.
