Fully tiled beige bathrooms..warm and neutral or out dated?

GimmeMoores · 26/11/2020 09:33

Buying a new build and making our bathroom choices. It comes fully tiled as standard.

For free we can choose

Matt beige
Matt grey
Some plain, and some decor tiles to place where we wish

Gloss cream
Gloss beige
Gloss grey
Some plain and some decor

Other choices cost extra, and to be honest I have more important rooms to put the money we have for upgrades into (we're upgrading the entire kitchen)

I'm thinking matt beige for the family bathroom, hoping it'll show less splash marks and just be a nice bright neutral space?

Am I right or is this dated? Would you advise one of the other options?

Beige is horrible, and very 90's hotel bathroom. It is the equivalent to magnolia walls.
Grey is also horrible in a bathroom, like being in a cave. Grey is the new magnolia.

You will also be stuck with your choice for a long time unless you fancy removing the tiles and replacing them. A bathroom you enjoy it important if you want to relax in it. White or very light cream (if you must have something non white) is versatile and won't date, other than the style of the tiles.

I like beige! It’s actually in fashion as a colour now. So it’s on trend too. Definitely not grey. I don’t think cream works if you have white fittings. It needs to be a bigger contrast - so beige. Call it sand or skimming stone if it makes you feel better.

Not beige! White tiles or Matt grey, all the way

DryRoastPeanut · 26/11/2020 11:16

Matt grey. It’s what we have. Looks great next to a white suite too. Beige is an old lady colour, no personality at all.

Beige cream magnolia. Call it what you want it is old fashioned

GimmeMoores · 26/11/2020 12:08

Ok screw it I'm changing. If I have to chuck a bit on a credit card I will. I can't get excited about floor to ceiling beige, but all white and all grey doesn't appeal either.

Sooo, option 1. Patterned floor, white walls, statement shower screen and emerald green towels and accessories

Option 2

Patterned floor, Matt white walls, normal shower screen and maybe some plants and powder blue towels/chrome features

That looks lovely op Grin

MillieEpple · 26/11/2020 12:30

Its both. I have this. It is warm and neutral but does look a bit dated.

IRunLikeJoeBiden · 26/11/2020 12:38

I really like both those floor tiles OP, but I think I prefer the first. You can always part tile the walls and get colour in through paint.

Toilenstripes · 26/11/2020 12:43

Venus cream all the way. We recently chose beige tiles for our bathroom, which sits off the living room, but we used different textures to make it look nicer. I’m still not crazy about it but I tell myself it looks like a spa.

shash1982 · 26/11/2020 12:48

I like the venus cream. I disagree about the matt not showing splash marks - had them in previous house and was forever having to wipe them down.
Now have gloss and I find it much easier with water marks.

LaBodDelMed · 26/11/2020 12:50

I like both your new options.
But I think the statement shower screen will be a pain in the arse to clean (I hate keeping a plain one clean let alone 12 mini panes). So on balance I’m going for option 2.

linerforlife · 26/11/2020 12:51

I would go with the celebration cream Matt personally!

That's a good point, I love both so finding it hard to narrow down from a design point of view but maybe practically that makes sense.

These towels are so lovely and thick.
Chambray or denim could work with the tiles. But there lots of lovely colour options!

Fairybatman · 26/11/2020 14:05

I like those floor tiles! Agree with the plainer screen so option 2.

IRunLikeJoeBiden · 26/11/2020 14:32

How about a black framed shower screen with a single pane?

GimmeMoores · 26/11/2020 19:01

We changed! We've upgraded to these floor tiles and we picked plain white gloss wall tiles which were cheaper than our package so absorbed the cost of the floor tiles. We are having the bath panel tiled with the white tiles too and we have swapped the white vanity unit to grey to break up all the white. Will add nice blue towels and accessories to tie it all together. Thanks for the help!

It's a bit brighter in real life than in that pic!
