What the hell can I use to get this off ds’s hands?

5 year old ds has come home with black “ink” over his hands.

He claims it’s ink from a felt tip pen, but soap and water, hand sanitizer and ever nail polish remover isn’t shifting it.

What else can I try?

Some laundry washing powder might shift it - it gets almost anything off skin but you have to wash it all off thoroughly afterwards because it's pretty harsh.

My brother let my toddlers play with water and food colouring - their hands and feet were bright blue! That shifted it.

I was worried you was going to say that

We don’t have any washing powder

All we have is the liquid two in one

Baby wipes get rid of lots of things. Oil and scrubbing (like with an old toothbrush)?

StealthPolarBear · 24/11/2020 15:57

What's that stuff you use for oil and grease called

AlwaysLatte · 24/11/2020 15:58

Washing up liquid with a small amount of sugar like a scrub?

Coldhandscoldheart · 24/11/2020 15:58

I would leave washing powder & wd40 as a last resort, they’re really not great on skin.
Does it have to come off? Could you leave it to wear away?
Often a good soak in the bath helps.

AlwaysLatte · 24/11/2020 15:58

@StealthPolarBear Swarfega

YellowPostItPad · 24/11/2020 15:58

Time.
It will fade. I would just leave it - as long as his hands are washed free of germs it doesn't really matter if they have a bit of pen on.

As long as his hands are clean I would just let it fade, rather than try lots of different products on young skin.

I was going to suggest mixing sugar with washing up liquid and rubbing it in like hand soap

MyNameIsAlexDrake · 24/11/2020 15:59

Try some toothpaste mixed with warm water to make a paste then rub it into the ink.

Soubriquet · 24/11/2020 15:59

Oooo baby wipes is a good suggestion. They get off stubborn marks.

I’ll give that a go.

I don’t really want to put WD40 or something like that on his skin so if worse comes to worse, it will have to fade off or soaking in a bath

Whitening toothpaste works.

moirarosebabay · 24/11/2020 15:59

Shampoo sometimes works.

WouldstrokeTomHardy · 24/11/2020 15:59

Milk usually gets ink off

FamilyOfAliens · 24/11/2020 15:59

Blimey - x-post times two!

BecomeStronger · 24/11/2020 16:01

I'd just leave it. It will fade with time and regular handwashing

LittleMissNaice · 24/11/2020 16:03

Just colour in any skin coloured patches up to his wrists and pretend they're gloves. 👍

I’d try that too

mama3bears · 24/11/2020 16:13

Avon's Skin so Soft dry oil spray is worth a go if you have any

BIRDSbirds · 24/11/2020 16:14

Nail varnish remover. Gets most marker pen off. A good wash after too!
