I like The Handmaid's Tale, Brave New World on Sky, Hunger Games, Black Mirror. No zombies please! Any other suggestions?

Already posted but I second High Rise the Book and Station Eleven.

High Rise the film is ok if only to see Tom Hiddleston very lovely buttocks 😊

MargotMoon · 21/11/2020 19:39

Second Utopia (All4) and Snowpiercer film

YakkityYakYakYak · 21/11/2020 19:43

Have you read the Testaments (follow up to the handmaids tale)? It’s one of the best books I’ve ever read.

Maybe The End of the F* * g World on Netflix?

Bluewavescrashing · 21/11/2020 19:45

I bought The Testaments but then left in a hotel room last year after reading the first chapter! Need to get another copy.

Year of the flood - Margaret Atwood and Oryx and Crake.

PoltergeistPirates · 22/11/2020 15:18

Threads. BBC film from the 80s. Pleasingly grim.

missnevermind · 23/11/2020 07:35

3% on Netflix. Brazilian with subtitles or dubbed. I think there are 2 seasons.

missnevermind · 23/11/2020 07:37

Those suggesting Snowpiercer I watched the film and thought it was dire even though I liked the premise. Is it worth starting the series?

HigherFurtherFasterBaby · 23/11/2020 07:39

The Snowpiercer series is excellent.

Daybreak on Netflix is also brilliant.

Gancanny · 23/11/2020 07:40

The TV series is much better than the film
They can really expand on the story in a way they couldn't in the film because of time limits and they've altered bits, added/removed characters, and changed the timeline a bit.

JorisBonson · 23/11/2020 07:42

The Platform on Netflix.

And agree with @missnevermind on 3%, there are 4 series now that I need to catch up on!

Bagelsandbrie · 23/11/2020 07:44

I enjoyed the snowpiercer film but couldn’t get past the first two episodes of the series. Tilda Swinton is amazing in the film.

tigerbear · 23/11/2020 07:44

Years & Years

As a PP mentioned, Threads!
Scariest thing I’ve ever seen.

Bagelsandbrie · 23/11/2020 07:44

The Platform film is excellent.

Scumble · 23/11/2020 07:45

I second 3% on Netflix - really enjoyed it.

Highfalutinlootin · 23/11/2020 07:49

To The Lake series on Netflix. Russian with subtitles and amazing.

SinkGirl · 23/11/2020 07:53

If you like Nineteen Eighty Four and Brave New World, get hold of We by Yevgeny Zamyatin. One of the first of its kind.

HMSSophie · 23/11/2020 07:53

Books - The Wool trilogy by Hugh Howey, and The Children of Time by someone I've forgotten

Soubriquet · 23/11/2020 08:00

@Bagelsandbrie

The Platform film is excellent.
I thought it was good but strange.

I didn’t really understand it tbh

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 23/11/2020 08:01

I've been watching Netflix
The Barrier
To the Lake
Sense8
Occupied
Snowpiercer.

LittleRa · 23/11/2020 08:04

Lots of good suggestions already mentioned so only ones I can think of that have’s been are Minority Report (film based on a Philip K Dick story) and Humans, TV series that was on channel 4 a few years ago, it’s not exactly in Handmaid Tale or Philip L Dick’s league but ok for a watch if you like the genre.

LittleRa · 23/11/2020 08:05

That haven’t been mentioned
