What do you do to relax, that doesn’t involve a screen?

Lockdown blues, have got into habit of watching tv with phone in hand in the evenings...

What with the lack of light I’m feeling a bit blah and looking for ways to relax, move a bit more, that don’t use screens and don’t mean going outside (in the cold dark, sob).

Anyone else a bit stuck? I’d love to find something really interesting to do that isn’t my bloody phone HmmHmm

I do a fitness class but it's online at the moment Grin

I love to read to relax, and I'm lucky that I finish work in time to pick DD up from school so I get to go for a walk in daylight.

I'm struggling with this lock down for the same reason, we did evening bike rides or walks in the last one but there's nothing to do this time becAuse it's always bloody dark and cold

I knit in front of the tv - i'm still watching a big screen but having my hands busy so i can't pick up my phone (or wine, or snacks) is much much better.

Happyhusband · 19/11/2020 14:58

Playing piano, painting wargames figures.

Darker · 19/11/2020 14:59

I know you said not going outside but I walk 10,000 steps most nights and it helps to clear my head, and I often meet up with a friend.

Also reading and photography.

Playing the piano, reading and sewing. I think knitting or crocheting is better though, I just can’t get the hang of it.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 19/11/2020 16:09

Jigsaws with the radio on in the back ground and BBC Sounds where I listen to plays and books and comedy a lot

FlyingByTheSeatof · 19/11/2020 16:10

Oh yes and I've been learning French on the Duolingo app. I tried Spanish but prefer French.

Mostly colouring in for me, I've also bought a paint by numbers which I'm sure is going to take me right back to childhood but I've not had chance to try it yet.

MaidenMotherCrone · 19/11/2020 16:23

Dressmaking. Making clothes for myself that a) fit properly and b) are unique.

I'll never see anyone wearing what I'm wearingGrin.

It's also extremely satisfying.

It's great. If you (or anyone else on here) fancy having another crack at it, there's a new Knit, Crochet and Natter thread (with some newbies and some helpful veterans) and also a 'How hard is it to learn to crochet /aargh I can't get the hang of it' kind of thread atm too.
