Is it just me or is Alison Hammond awful at presenting?

Hi,

So generally I don't have much of an opinion on Alison either way, but from what I've seen she's a good/unique interviewer and I can understand why she's likeable, but she really can't present. She's on This Morning again now and it's embarrassing tbh!

TM have a habit of using terrible stand ins, but I think AH is on another level. Surely there are better, professional presenters out there?..

Rochelle and Marvin are the only decent stand ins on the show I think

You can see that Phillip Scofield looks on edge and is trying way too hard to keep the show together.

Is it just me? I'm sure I saw a thread on here a few weeks ago saying how wonderful AH was on the show, so maybe it is 🤔

She's better than bloody Davina who is on today. She's pathetic, not funny and past it. Can't stand her

I can't stand Davina either. I think they are both as bad as each other. They both love themselves and want it to always be about them

Bloody hell I have just tuned in for the first time in months and months on the back of this thread. There is a segment ridiculing a woman with the world's biggest mouth while at the same time pretending to be sensitive to the fact that she was bullied at school .

I'm devastated to have been missing this quality journalism.

I dont like watching AH. Love Dermot O'Leary though. Can't stand Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield should be banished to TV's junk drawer. He's not funny at all, and hugely annoying.

That being said, I haven't watched This Morning for about 20 years.

Alison Hammond is out of her depth.

On a serious note, it is interesting that commissioning editors assume that this dross is what the "average woman at home" deserves.

I think Alison will get better. She wasn’t actually awful, just very different from Holly. I also don’t think she connects well with Phil - it’s like they’re from two completely different worlds.

Just cancel the whole show and show a test card instead, that would probably be more intelligent and entertaining!

She would never have got the job if not for BB, she wasn't trained at all.
I think she has come on brilliantly and love the fact that an unknown can still enter the profession.
I tried for so many years and have an entertainment background.
I say well done to her, she's lovely.

As others have said bring back Sarah Greene. I actually watched the whole show when she was on
ITV have really dumbed down. Alison is great for celebrity interviews and competitions, but NOT as a main presenter. I am all for diversification, but get someone who can do the job.
At least Alison has some personality, Dermot is just deathly dull and I cannot bear to watch him on anything tbh. Absolutely dreadful.

As for Phil, his insincerity and arrogance is infuriating

Perhaps not, but if people warm to her, it has to be good.
I don't watch it myself, used to watch R&J many years ago
But, whenever I see clips of her on adverts she comes across as bubbly and sincere, a bit of the common touch that normal people can associate with.
I always wonder how in tune with normal life Phil, Holly and the other multi millionaires are.

I have no idea why or how her 15mins of fame has lasted for so long...

Saw her a few times In rl once she has absolutely flawless beautiful skin not that it’s relevant but I’ve never seen anyone else with such perfect skin

The whole show is dire, it's trying to turn into modern culture with social media and celebrity off the show as well as when its on TV. Get money from repeats of them "giggling" etc.

I genuinely cant watch it and I have fond memories of a bit comfort TV with previous presenters before Holly and Phil.

@TensAndUnits, haven't seen her in rl, but I have always thought she has beautiful skin.

I like AH, but she needs to be teamed with someone who keeps the show on the road. I think professionalism can come at the expense of warmth and sincerity (and vice versa).

I watched it yesterday and I would say she was better than I was expecting but she is not a journalist and it shows.

The calibre of the presenters who do the incidental bits is awful. Fern (can’t remember her surname) was just on talking about I’m a celebrity and they used to have Georgia Toffolo on who was way out of her depth. Random reality stars really dumb it down even further.

I've been thinking about this since yesterday. She did seem uncomfortable yesterday, I am wondering whether Phil didn't want her there and she knew it, but the bosses had made the decision to use her so she had to do it. I do like Alison and she seems like a lovely person, she didn't seem herself yesterday.

No and that's the problem. I think most presenters have to have a degree of acting ability and be good at false sincerity as standard, but I suspect AH is not comfortable with that and is only good at her job when she can cut the shit....for want of a better phrase - and just be herself.

Davina is terrible and has done live tv for years . I say give Alison A chance I think she will be fab .

Just watching Alison Hammond on This Morning and her grammar is appalling - she keeps saying you was instead of you were and I were instead of I was. I am surprised that the bosses at ITV are not aware of this and continue to employ her. Hardly a good example for any children watching the show who will think her English is correct.
