Realised today that DCs and I haven't seen a dentist since Summer 2019! Shock Were meant to go in March but didn't happen!
When did you last go?

Dec 2017 for a hygienist appointment... I was about to leave a company that had an excellent health package so I got in there quick. Not sure why I've been so lax since

throwaway100000 · 18/11/2020 01:13

Was lucky to get an nhs scale and polish in September! It was basic and not as thorough due to the lack of aerosol generating procedures (I was still grateful to see them though!)

Before that my last appointment was in February so I haven’t missed an appointment yet. I need a new mouth guard as I have been grinding my teeth again, hoping this won’t be a problem.

Last month. Scale and polish. Then wnet back for a filling

March 2020 so just before lockdown, had a hygienist appointment the week after but that didn't go ahead.

I can't wait until my next scale and polish, although I take good care of my teeth they now feel furry without my normal 6 mth pummelling by the hygienist.

badlydrawnbear · 18/11/2020 07:03

I had an emergency appointment in September. DC haven't been for over a year though, and there is no indication of when routine dental check-ups might resume.

AuntieMarys · 18/11/2020 07:07

June for dentist and hygienist. Hygienist again last month and dentist booked again for December.

SushiGo · 18/11/2020 07:16

September, delayed from March, for a check up. Told to come back if I'm getting pain from wisdom teeth which now hurts and they're back to closed except for emergencies...

Hoping my teeth are okay!

captainprincess · 18/11/2020 07:19

August

KittenCalledBob · 18/11/2020 07:21

August 2020. Routine appointment, no issues.

StealthPolarBear · 18/11/2020 07:21

Probably last December, children too which worries me. I tried to make an appointment even for Feb half term but they're not doing them yet.

HelloDulling · 18/11/2020 07:22

August, me and both DC.

Takethewinefromtheswine · 18/11/2020 07:22
  1. Had an awful experience and never went back. I do take dd every 6 mo though (when allowed, obv).
FallingStar · 18/11/2020 07:24

Last week, and once a week for the previous 3 weeks. I got an infection and needed root canal , was seen as an emergency, half my face was swollen and the pain was horrendous. So grateful that I was able to be seen!
Before that it was 2 years Shock

SpillingTheTea · 18/11/2020 07:30

Last week for some treatment. I work there and the wait actually isn't long both NHS and Private.
We just aren't allowed to see any routine check ups if you have no problems. It's the NHS rules. If you're having some problems then the check up is done the same time as your treatment.
Regular check ups pre COVID are very important and I used to dread people coming in that haven't been for years because 90% of the time there is so much we find wrong.

danmthatonestakentryanotheer · 18/11/2020 07:37

About 25 years ago. I have an absolute terror of the dentist after a brutal experience so haven't stepped foot inside one since. In fact, just thinking about it makes me feel physically sick.

CleanHankie · 18/11/2020 08:15

August. Was surprised when I recieved the reminder call the day before as presumed although they were now allowed to treat patients, they'd cancel check ups. Rather than add more people to a long list of catchups they stuck with all appointments. We are private but our children are NHS.
Our dentists have been fab throughout lockdown. Although doors weren't open they created a rota so the phones were constantly manned and dentists advised as best they could. Kept up updated throughout via social media and email. Even made videos of them training in the precautions they had to install, even the bloopers of them getting in a tizz with PPE! Nicest bit was a step by step video of what happens when you do visit - helped our children

OllyBJolly · 18/11/2020 08:19

About a month ago for check up and hygienist appointment. Next appointment February.

MyCatTibby · 18/11/2020 08:23

About three weeks ago for a check up and scale and polish. Before that February, we go every six months for a check up and hygienist appointment but the one in August was cancelled.

fizzyp0p · 18/11/2020 08:28

Went yesterday and have a routine check up again in January then I'm going to book a scale and polish.

LubaLuca · 18/11/2020 08:29

October last year, same for the children. I go only every 12 months anyway so I'm not especially worried, but the children are supposed to go every 6 months, so they've now missed 2 appointments.

NameChange84 · 18/11/2020 08:31

I’ve been five times since July, the most recent being last week. Private dentist, ongoing work that means a visit at least once a month.

Oreservoir · 18/11/2020 08:38

July for a check up. Dh also had a small filling. We generally book for the same day because I'm a wuss with dentists.

daysofpearlyspencer · 18/11/2020 08:43

A week after first lockdown ended. I love going to the dentist and having a thorough clean and check up. Small amount of discomfort but worth it to keep your teeth and mouth healthy.

bookworm14 · 18/11/2020 08:45

September this year for a check up, then again two weeks ago to have a wisdom tooth out. Our dentist seems to be operating fairly normally, thank goodness.

NeedWineNow · 18/11/2020 08:51

October for a check up (NHS). Couldn't book my next check up though - they said they will be in touch in about April. DH has an appointment booked for a check up in December and will wait to see whether that goes ahead.
