What are my parents-in-law's neighbours actually doing?

So, to be clear right from the start, there will be no answer to this one, ever. (If it is a weird sex thing, there is no way my parents-in law would tell us - it would be too awkward!) This is purely for speculation, but what are they up to?

Every Sunday evening my parents-in-law's neighbour creeps out of his bungalow and down the path beside the fence to hang a home made wooden shutter over the frosted glass window of their bathroom then heads back inside. This has happened every Sunday evening over around the last six months. If my parents-in-law are in the garden, he waits until they have gone inside but when they look out again later, the shutter is in place. (If they are still there at the critical time he actually ducks down below the level of the fence so they can't see)

What can they be doing that needs a wooden shutter on the window? The most innocent explanation that we can think of is creating a dark room but in that case, why try to do it so secretly and with such a regular schedule?

Please share your ideas because we are stumped.

@enjoyingscience

100% A Sex Thing. No idea what, but I’ve led a pretty sheltered life.
I think you are right but ditto re the sheltered life Grin

Maybe he likes to pretend he lives in an advent calendar?

greenlynx · 14/11/2020 21:51

It’s interesting point that wife is busy because she has a regular appointment, watching Strictly results ... so husband can do whatever he wants to do in the bathroom. And she can’t see the shutters as they are outside and she won’t realise that they are outside. I still think he needs shutters because he use strong light and does something illegal/embarrassing so want to be sure he can’t be seeing.

OP, how old are they?

Zoolally · 14/11/2020 21:52

@Bluntness100

I suspect they think people can see in when it’s dark. Shadows at least. So they put a blind over the window so they can have a bath or whatever and not worry someone will see their outline

I guess they just don’t want a blind inside, so are going for the cheap but cumbersome option.

What the hell Bluntness? Sensible explanations are not needed here 😂

I would go with making a porno, turning their bathroom into a sex dungeon or live webcam action

bath night. people only used to bath once a week. perhaps they have stuck to that.

Husband is sent outside to hang the shutter so wife can turn on the 100 watt bulb, put one foot on the window ledge, and giver her vag a good going over with the hedge trimmer.

Brot64 · 14/11/2020 21:59

Haha love this thread. Are other people seen attending the house? Maybe they host a weekly swingers club? Or the husband is playing some silly online search and find military style game (or whatever they are called).

This is what I think too.

To stop people starting at their outlines in the bath/shower

Toreportornot · 14/11/2020 22:00

How long does the shutter stay up for? When does he take it down?

WotWouldCJDo · 14/11/2020 22:02

My first thought was Sunday night is bath night.

WitchQueenofDarkness · 14/11/2020 22:03

Witchcraft!

cordeliaflynne · 14/11/2020 22:04

There are some good questions here. I might need to engineer a conversation with the in-laws to find the age of the neighbours and the duration of the shutter.

Is that when his wife does a back, sack and crack wax for him?

GaryTheDemon · 14/11/2020 22:13

I’m going with bath night. How old is he? Absolutely possible it’s sink washes the rest of the week and many people don’t trust their frosted glass

NoProblem123 · 14/11/2020 22:14

Advent calendar GrinGrinGrin

I need more info...
When does the shutter come down ??
Who takes it down ??
When it’s off can it go ‘missing’ ?
Are there blinds and/or curtains in place too ?
Are they a bit strange about anything else ?

I think we might be barking up the wrong tree by assuming that it's just to block out light. I wonder if his wife goes out every Sunday and the 'shutter' is actually the canvas for a very large painting/photo of his first love - far too large an artwork to easily fit inside the actual house - whom he likes to, erm, remember when he's in the bathroom on the evening that his wife is out.

SixesAndEights · 14/11/2020 22:27

He obviously knows it looks mental hence him hiding.

Surely his wife will notice him going out every Sunday night for a few minutes so she is likely "in on it", whatever "it" is.

If there are concerns about people seeing in then they would have a blind or curtains.

Also if it was a concern about people seeing in then surely they'd be putting this shutter up every time they went to the toilet.

Also, it'll have been light surely for a lot of the time he's been doing it.

I suspect something a bit weird. No idea what!

Him tugging his cock to porn on his phone

FlamboyantMustard · 14/11/2020 22:33

Is he by any chance a Postman? Because if so @LEELULUMPKIN may have the answer, and it involves a pyrex dish

Ellie56 · 14/11/2020 22:34

"what the fucks the shutter for love?" Grin GrinGrin

Thewithesarehere · 14/11/2020 22:36

Could they be swingers? Can you see someone else sneaking into their house Friday evenings? My money is on them putting up this as a code for someone your PIL know.
So watch out for other neighbours closely.
