Someone's sent me a sex toy via Amazon...

GreenMarkerPen4myHen · 09/11/2020 12:06

I'm a relatively new poster under this username but I've been on Mumsnet forever (Korean lady, penis beaker, Pom Bears). I know this sounds very odd but I swear I'm not trolling, or lying.

So last week I got an Amazon parcel addressed to me and there was a sex toy inside. I didn't buy it and there is no record of it in my Amazon orders page. However, I did browse it a few months ago. My husband didn't buy it for me either - I have asked! So who sent it?

Could Amazon possibly be rewarding my loyalty by sending me a gift and they kindly selected this sex toy for me? It's unlikely but I can't see any other explanation - maybe some stupid algorithm came up with the idea?

I'm a bit spooked out because the truth is, I have been toying with the idea of buying this thing; however, I haven't searched for it on Amazon (or elsewhere) since well before March. Can Amazon read my mind...? I haven't spoken about it to anybody either.

Or do I have a secret admirer and they thought this would be a good way to show their affection? Grin My birthday was a few days before the delivery and I think that might be linked.

This a mystery.

A couple of years ago we received the 'unsolicited gift' - not via Amazon - of two bluetooth Tiles (tags for keys / valuables). Return address was in the US. No idea who sent them to us, no competitions entered with that as a prize.

We kept them for six months and then put them in BIL's Christmas stocking!

Go to my account, Theresa contact box on the bottom right of all the rectangle choices. There’s an automated chat but I typed I want to speak to a human and it took my phone number and someone called back in less than a minute. I also googled a contact number recently to check a fraud call, they are out there.

Springfern · 10/11/2020 07:26

Off to search for the satisfyer pro in the hope I'll get sent a free one Grin

Palavah · 10/11/2020 07:27

How old is your son? Any other people in your household?

LynetteScavo · 10/11/2020 07:30

I know you say it's not in your wish list, but wish lists can be viewed by others unless they are set to private. I had a fine old time moseying other people's wish lists when I discovered this. And DN thinks I'm the coolest because even though I never see her I always buy her exactly what she wants for Christmas.

I think the company have sent it to you to test and post on social media how ace it is. It seems to have worked .

Therollockingrogue · 10/11/2020 07:30

Omg Op I’d be freaking out that it had a teeny camera in it and I was live streaming point of view porn across the world Grin

Lipz · 10/11/2020 07:31

I've read a few posts on here about people receiving things from amazon, some turned out to be friends or family and not including a note and others never found out. In all these cases amazon never cared they got something. I wish amazon would send me something, so tell me, do I just browse their site and pray hard? Might be worth a go. Smile

Woolysock · 10/11/2020 07:32

This explains a lot as this has happened to me too a few times, contacted Amazon each time, provided shipping label info, worried my account had been compromised... told not to worry and to keep the items!
Enjoy the toy OP! 😉

mogloveseggs · 10/11/2020 07:36

Well now I'm disappointed.
I've only received a mystery collander and box of pens! Grin

GreenMarkerPen4myHen · 10/11/2020 07:37

My son is 11 and he has no idea what these things are (or so I hope).

You made me laugh with the camera thing. I checked that the packaging was fully sealed first, obvs! I then thought - what if there are seeds inside it, as some posters suggested? But there weren't. And once it was open I thought it looked nice. And one thing led to another.

Haha sounds like it was a welcomed mystery gift! If Amazon are saying no money has been taken from your account and it's not compromised then all good! Now why doesn't anyone send me anything Sad

Also the minute review earlier.. now I really want to know what one it is, research purposes only Wink

GreenMarkerPen4myHen · 10/11/2020 08:03

It's the Satisfyer Pro. A couple of years ago I treated myself to the Womaniser, which is a similar but much more expensive toy. Rave reviews from Mumsnetters. Well, I returned it because it was far too intense for my delicate bits (Lovehoney accepts returns on these things, believe it or not). This seems better designed for my liking. So yes, I highly recommend it.

I need to find the chat function on Amazon though, I want to ensure my account hasn't been compromised. I will definitively change the password as a first step.

What do you do with the returned toys? Doesn't seem very environmentally friendly and I'm sure really hoping that they don't "deep clean" and re-sell.

Nikhedonia · 10/11/2020 08:37

*what do they do Hmm

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 10/11/2020 14:12

I can't imagine their page on Preloved gets a lot of traffic!

WhenInDoubtSmileandPout · 10/11/2020 15:57

Maybe they get "refurbished" and sold on Amazon...

BoggledBudgie · 10/11/2020 16:15

I can’t see that listed anywhere on amazon Confused

BoggledBudgie · 10/11/2020 16:15

Never mind, found it!

Thank you. It took a few pages of looking before I realised it had hidden adult items... I have now ordered one Grin

@Therollockingrogue ROFL Grin

EmeraldShamrock · 10/11/2020 16:54

As long as you gave it a good wash it's for keeps. Grin
Strange one though.
I hope I get one too.

Henio · 10/11/2020 16:55

Do you have the Amazon app on your phone? You can live chat on there

JemimaTiggywinkle · 10/11/2020 16:59

Has anyone else received things from Amazon?
I’ve just received a bottle of non-alcoholic spirits.

No note, and I’ve asked lots of people if they sent it to me. It’s not my birthday either.

yumscrumfatbum · 10/11/2020 17:04

I got the seeds from China through the post in August. I had to send them on to a lab for analysis. They sent me the results, they were common garden mint and rhodendrons (however you spell that). I'd rather have had the sex toy!!!!!
