White Collar was brilliant. A comedy crime drama caper. About 4 series and it kept us hooked right through to the end. We were sad it finished. DS loved it.

JoeBidenIsGreat · 11/11/2020 17:45

Father Ted has been big hit with my 12yo.
And he still hasn't seen the lingerie episode...
We are also watching Life on Mars (boxset), too.

spiderlight · 11/11/2020 17:51

My 13-year-old loved 'Friday Night Dinner'. We've also recently watched 'The IT Crowd' and 'Ghosts' with him, and are currently watching 'Speechless', which he's thoroughly enjoying and is also managing to work into his RE coursework on equality and diversity.

Jody21 · 11/11/2020 17:59

My teen usually watches The Goldbergs, Brooklyn 99, Umbrella Academy, Ridiculousness and Stranger Things with me. Our go to show though is Supernatural, we have box sets of earlier seasons, it's now on season 15 which is the last season, don't know how we will replace that!

DiscoJanet · 11/11/2020 18:08

My 11yo dd loves many of the above, plus Miranda, the Good Place, and recently the whole family watched and really loved Atypical.

chickenninja · 11/11/2020 18:10

Another vote for Ghosts on BBC!

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 11/11/2020 18:11

The clean version of Taskmaster....

Stranger Things might be a bit scary

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 11/11/2020 18:12

Oh and definitely Brooklyn 99 - my 11 year old loves it

Larsingsong · 11/11/2020 18:27

I agree with Friday Night Dinner, my DS found it funny, still does impressions of Jim.

I never really liked it before, but it grew on me lots when we binged on it, ended up loving it. I think it's pretty mild for a 12yr old, just daft humour and the regular "shit on it!"

waltzingparrot · 11/11/2020 18:28

We also enjoyed Shadowhunters. Teenage angst in vampire form.

timothytoeseatenbyaghoul · 11/11/2020 18:43

Raising Dion?

CryHavoc · 11/11/2020 19:09

Mine likes lots of the programmes mentioned above (especially Ghosts, Friday Night Dinner) but also really loved The Crown and Call the Midwife. She's learned loads about history from both.

midnightstar66 · 11/11/2020 19:11

Heartland - but it's a major commitment. If it weren't for lockdown we'd probably have a year or so left but we are feeling quite bereft since finishing it!

Dozer · 11/11/2020 19:12

Once Upon a Time. As a bonus, more than passes the Bechdel Test every episode.

midnightstar66 · 11/11/2020 19:13

Also my DD's love friends but that's controversial on mumsnet. It's mostly what's on just now

Wilma55 · 11/11/2020 19:13

All creatures great and small

Hotwaterbottlelove · 11/11/2020 19:21

As well as being a bit sexual, most of the jokes in Emily in Paris relate to work and corporate culture. Wouldn't be great for a 12 year old. And This is Us is a fabulous piece of TV but again, not for a 12 year old. But do watch it yourself.

Bbq1 · 11/11/2020 19:52

I LOVE Big Bang Theory and Friends but It would have to be a mature 12 year old though to watch them. TBBT & Friends are 2 of my most favourite shows ever but I've always struggled to see what pre teens get from them - Friends in particular. What actually appeals to them about it? Surely they wouldn't get a lot of the humour. In Friends there are also a LOT of sexual conversations, activity and porn is referenced in every episode.

midnightstar66 · 11/11/2020 20:32

@Bbq1 my girls like the silliness. Pivot, fajitas, Ross and his English accent. Monica getting bullied at the restaurant, the quiz to win back the apartment , paper/snow/a ghost, space camp Monica playing table tennis in Barbados.... I could go on forever. The rude bits genuinely go over their heads. The fun bits are what they watch it for.

Gohackyourself · 11/11/2020 21:32

I’m watching “lost” on prime as it passed me by the first time

Vthirtyone · 11/11/2020 21:33

My 12 year old daughter loves Gogglebox, Dr Who, Bake Off, Ghosts, His Dark Materials, but our absolute fave was What we do in the Shadows
