How did you do it? Is it possible to get fjt using videos on YouTube?

Excersise videos. Promise ing myself to be do 10 mins a day... I didn't put any pressure on myself but naturally of course as you start to get fitter you want to do more.

Libertylee · 08/11/2020 11:19

Les Mills on demand app. Costs about ten pounds a month, and has lots of different classes to choose from.

Sidge · 08/11/2020 11:23

Running.

In March I couldn’t run a mile without stopping.

Yesterday I went for a lovely 11 mile run.

I’ve also been doing weights and strength training - I was lucky enough to sign up with a PT just before first lockdown and he did remote sessions for me when we couldn’t meet face to face. I bought some kit and managed to continue doing it at home regularly using the techniques he’s shown me.

I also like Jillian Michaels Shred programmes, they’re probably on YouTube.

HarrietPotterska · 08/11/2020 14:08

@NullcovoidNovember which videos have you used?

@Sidge that's really inspiring. 4 years ago I ran 10ks several times a week, but a broken ankle and significant weight increase (I am now obese) mean I need to take it very slowly

Pe with Joe / Courtney black Instagram lives.

The fact they were both in live really forced me into it, I couldn’t do my usual laze around as I’d miss them.

sittingonacornflake · 08/11/2020 14:11

Really recommend PE with Joe.

RealSadHelp · 08/11/2020 14:19

Get any free YouTube workouts, spend some time looking at the ones you like.
Connect with a few influencers on Instagram.
I am doing a bunch of old DVDs from the 80s!
Go slowly.
Remember this is not a quick fix. This is for life.
Don’t forget to focus on food too.
Cut out refined sugars, carbs and junk.
Meditate, stretch and breath for 20mins a day.
Drink lots of water and take your vitamin D.
Get a body tape measure and record your numbers every month.
Do not weight in just measure. Find
Find a pair of pants you wanna get into and keep trying those ever month.
Put that hard work.

AreyouthereGoditsme · 08/11/2020 14:27

I bought the 30 day shred dvd after it was recommended on here. It wasn't too difficult to stick to as I started to notice improvements after a week. After a few weeks was shredding a few days each week and running slowly on the other days.

HarrietPotterska · 08/11/2020 14:33

@RealSadHelp thank you, this is excellent advice.

I'm about to start following the Imperial Satiety Protocol on the advice of my GP, so am looking to make long term, healthy changes as despite the fact that I am now obese, I have suffered with anorexia in my teens and then years of disordered eating. I know so much about diet but I'm not healthy at the moment

Running
Pressups
Exercise videos
Definitely possible with just exercise videos.

Yourownpersonaljesus · 08/11/2020 14:46

I would recommend Team Body Project workouts on YouTube. I've been doing them since the middle of August and have lost over a stone and gone down a dress size. I posted on here for recommendations and they were mentioned a few times. Their workouts start from absolute beginner, which is what I started on as I hadn't exercised for 20 years! I'm now doing the intermediate workouts with the odd advanced one at the weekend. I also cut down on what I was eating but am certainly not starving myself.

AlrightTreacle · 08/11/2020 17:11

I bought an exercise bike and went for more walks.

TonTonMacoute · 08/11/2020 17:21

Fitness Blender did it for me. I did pay about £10 for an 8 week programme, which you can use as many times as you like, and there are hundreds of other videos you can access too.

minipie · 08/11/2020 17:26

Watching! I am a lifelong exercise avoider, had finally managed to sign up to gym classes in November and was really good about going pre and post lockdown but in lockdown itself... nada. At least this time there is no home schooling.

I think I need a single programme with something I have to do every day or nearly. Then I can’t just promise myself “tomorrow”.

DorisDaisyMay · 08/11/2020 17:27

I used Beachbody on demand and followed a programme.

wizzler · 08/11/2020 17:34

I bought a cheap tracker and made myself walk at least 7.5k steps a day. Every day. Shocked at how few steps I do if I don't make the effort. Combined with eating sensibly I've lost almost 2stone
Feel loads better and joints don't ache as much now

Imissmoominmama · 08/11/2020 17:39

I walked and cycled every day.

Haggisfish · 08/11/2020 17:40

I had zoom personal trainer sessions -only £20 a session.

Hollywhiskey · 08/11/2020 17:45

I walked miles and miles and miles. I was on maternity leave so I shoved my kids in the buggy for every single nap during the whole of lockdown and either walked or ran behind them. I must have done 50 or 60 miles a week.
You have to do something you actually enjoy or it won't work. I love fresh air and I am a data geek, so steps, Strava, Garmin, lovely views, even coming in soaking wet from a run in the pouring rain to a hot shower- all that makes me genuinely happy. The thought of the YouTube videos or 12 minute HIIT sessions sounds like punishment to me so I don't do it. Move your body in a way that feels good to you.

Bobbiepin · 08/11/2020 17:53

Hollywhiskey is totally right about finding things that work for you.

I started running again, progressed from 2km to 12km in a few months. I bought an exercise bike 2nd hand off schpock and did 10km daily, then upped that to 20km and did Chloe Ting's 28 day Summer challenge. That was quite tough but it was good to have something to push me rather than the things I found quite easy.

Ooh I just did one of those on your recommendation. I liked it!
BogRollBOGOF · 08/11/2020 18:48

Little and often is more likely to work than a big blow out.

Mr Motivator does a weekly 12 min video that is relatively gentle and can be done in a small space. It's not too sweaty so doesn't need fitness wear. I find it hard working up a sweat at home. It's too hot and flooring often isn't great for the job.

If you like outdoors, C25k is good.

imamearcat · 08/11/2020 18:48

Couch to 5k. Ran a half marathon in September.

Yourownpersonaljesus · 08/11/2020 19:16

Glad you enjoyed it GreyishDays. You can subscribe to their programmes online but I just do the free ones on YouTube - there's loads.

FrangipaniBlue · 08/11/2020 19:31

Running outside, cycling outside plus turbo trainer (spinning) inside, lake swimming, HIIT workouts (using kettle bells & skipping rope) in the garden and YouTube Pilates.

Having to walk the dog twice a day myself (usually once and dog walker once) helped aswell Grin
