OP posts:
Eng123 · 02/11/2020 19:06

I think this year is more important than ever as normal fundraising events are cancelled

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 02/11/2020 19:06

Not on school uniform (due to the fact they will likely lose them within 5minutes. But generally on Remembrance Sunday. They've attended services/parades from quite young- 2&4. The year before that they helped their Dad sell them. They know what it means.

optimisticpessimist01 · 02/11/2020 19:07

Yes

MitziK · 02/11/2020 19:08

How long are we talking about?

With 98% of the population under 12, for around 24 seconds, yes. And then they're lost, Francesca's complaining that Alfie has picked up her poppy off the floor, Freddie's got five shoved up his left nostril and the remainder of Miss Bentley's class come out at the end of the day to say 'I need another £2 for a poppy tomorrow'.

EasilyDepleted · 02/11/2020 19:08

Yes

notangelinajolie · 02/11/2020 19:08

Yes

Purpleice · 02/11/2020 19:09

No. It was enforced one year at dd’s school. She’s not worn one since.

Stompythedinosaur · 02/11/2020 19:10

If they want to.

CatToddlerUprising · 02/11/2020 19:20

Yes. We have the pin ones that we wear every year. I still donated to the British legion when they were outside supermarkets collecting, but have donated online this year.

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 02/11/2020 19:21

I dont mind either way but it's enforced at school (which is ridiculous imho)

Sparklingbrook · 02/11/2020 19:22

Yes, either the pin ones or a wristband, all through school. They are older now but they still do.

scrivette · 02/11/2020 19:23

Yes usually pins or wristbands.

Oldraver · 02/11/2020 19:23

My 14,year old does, his own decision

LadyCatStark · 02/11/2020 19:23

Of course. We have a strong military background in our family and he wants to join himself when he’s older. He is a Junior Sea Cadet and did his first Remembrance Day parade last year with his uncle who is in the Army and Grandad who was in the RAF. He gets a paper poppy and has a special metal badge that is from his uncle’s regiment.

DelurkingAJ · 02/11/2020 19:26

Yes. Pins this year from RBL website. Prefer pins as otherwise everyone lost them just as they were needed on the Sunday! Eldest understands (8), youngest is a bit vague (4).

june2007 · 02/11/2020 19:26

Mine have done. I am a bit relunctant due to the amount of waste they produce.

exLtEveDallas · 02/11/2020 19:27

Yes, all my family (even the dog) wear one.
At school we sell them (no minimum donation) for 2 weeks prior to 11/11 and on the day every child is given one to attend the Remembrance Service (School makes a blanket donation to ‘pay’ for them)

This year there isn’t a Service but weather depending the children will be doing a minutes silence on the field or in classrooms and will be given a poppy for that.
