If I was nine weeks pregnant I’d have noticed, wouldn’t I?

My current period is seven days late, no chance of conception since my last period so for the first couple of days I assumed it was just randomly late. Now it’s a week late and still no sign of it so I was looking at the app I use to track my periods again and remembered my last one was unusually light, was watery blood when I wiped on and off, not a consistent flow and nothing like my usual heavy periods but it lasted a week so I didn’t think too much of it. Now this ones gone awol I’m half wondering if maybe it wasn’t a proper period but it sounds daft to think I could be nine weeks pregnant and have had no inkling?
We have one son and would have liked another child so I’m worried it’s wishful thinking to an extreme degree Grin

Thanks all, I should probably have gone with my first instinct that I was grasping at straws Blush

@Specksofwhiteallaround There's still time and hope! Let's hope you get something out of this collectively shitty year

Astella22 · 31/10/2020 17:40

Ah that’s a shame, as much as I try not to hope each time I’m late it’s impossible, for me anyway, not too. Such an emotional rollercoaster each time makes me weirdly look forward to menopause. Confused

I was 12 weeks with DD and she was my third, so it's possible.

kittykat35 · 31/10/2020 17:46

I was nearly 10 weeks before I noticed I was pregnant OP and that was my second pregnancy 🤣🙈

Greyblueeyes · 31/10/2020 18:03

I'm so sorry, @Specksofwhiteallaround. This is the exact reason I don't test either. I'm late too, but I won't test. It's just too painful to get the negative for me.

Pumpertrumper · 31/10/2020 18:07

I’m 7 weeks and I wish I ‘couldn’t tell’ I’m sick as a dog and totally miserable!

Specksofwhiteallaround · 31/10/2020 18:23

@Pumpertrumper At first I thought I was really lucky having no sickness and no other symptoms with my son but then I spent a huge chunk of my pregnancy bleeding on and off and terrified I would lose him so some symptoms might have been quite reassuring lol I probably would have been miserable either way though.

So sorry op Flowers

britnay · 31/10/2020 19:15

pregnancy tests are most accurate when used first thing in the morning when the urine is sufficiently concentrated.

Oxyiz · 31/10/2020 19:23

Sorry OP Flowers You might have had an anovulatory cycle? Have you been been stressed or ill at all?

Gunpowder · 31/10/2020 20:40

Gah I’m sorry OP. My period was late last month and wasn’t pg either although I was relieved. Stress and lockdown I concluded! I hope next time you’re late it’s because there’s a baby. Enjoy your wine. Wine

Specksofwhiteallaround · 02/11/2020 09:45

Still no period so I foolishly thought I'd do the second test with my first wee of the day and now there's a faint line Hmm Don't see how a line could be so faint at potentially nine weeks so I'm thinking its got to be an evap line Confused

Hate the blue dye tests, they’re notorious for false positives. Retest in the morning with a first response test, they’re the most accurate.

I know two people who didn’t find out until 20 weeks and 32 weeks so yeah, not knowing until 9 weeks would be totally normal Grin.

JoJoSM2 · 02/11/2020 10:22

So are you under a consultant for infertility? They would be able to diagnose and monitor you or tell you if you’re perimenopausal and periods are getting irregular.

Specksofwhiteallaround · 02/11/2020 10:47

@JoJoSM2 Not under a consultant and I don’t think my GP would be interested in diagnosing anything. I went to see her after three years of trying for a second child and having increasing problems with heavy periods, weight gain and excess facial hair I went to see her and she fixated on me being overweight despite the fact that I also struggled to conceive by son when I was in my twenties and very slim.
Im fairly certain if I went to see her about this late period she’d more than likely say it’s my weight still so seems a waste of time Confused

Agree with others the blue dyes are terrible. Get a pink dye- even the Tesco cheap ones that cost £1 for 2 gave me an accurate positive before my period was even due.

Trousersareoverrated · 02/11/2020 10:53

Also not much your GP can do here. If you’ve got a positive pregnancy test after trying a different brand then book yourself in with a midwife

Specksofwhiteallaround · 02/11/2020 11:04

@Trousersareoverrated Oh I wouldn’t expect the GP to help, I was just replying to the comment about them doing any diagnosing or monitoring of my periods Smile

I didn't notice with my 2nd. I was further on than 9 weeks. No symptoms. ( I had super sore breasts with my 1st so I knew something was going on)

RhapsodyandAshe · 02/11/2020 11:41

@04Specksofwhiteallaround the symptoms you described to the GP sound like Pcos.
I don't want to give you false hope or anything but have been drinking a tablespoon of raw honey and cinnamon for a couple of months now.
Anyway I thought with the Pcos and no pregnancies for 11 years I was pretty much infertile. That was wrong and I think it might be attributable to the honey and cinnamon.
Might be worth a go, it certainly couldn't harm.

Trousersareoverrated · 02/11/2020 11:47

Oh I see. Sorry OP! Good luck with a different test- hope you get the result you want
