I am sick of snowflakes

Just need to vent. The world is becoming a colder place because of snowflakes and wet blankets.

Wet blanket and wet lettuce are not the same thing . A wet lettuce is a weary type of person who gives up at the first hurdle . A wet blanket is a misery who tries to spoil things for everybody else. A bit like the song “Don’t Rain on My Parade “

kingofbears · 24/10/2020 23:48

Very depressing to realise that people still consider the term ''snowflake'' to be a witty insult in 2020.

Maybe put on your grownup pants and come up with a compelling counterargument rather than throwing outdated daily mail-isms at anyone who disagrees with you.

longwayoff · 24/10/2020 23:49

Stop worrying OP, global warming coming to help you out. Oh, but you don't believe in that do you? Nevertheless you'll be getting a whole lot more weather to worry about in the future. It will give you something else to fret over and hopefully prove a useful distraction for you.

Camogue · 24/10/2020 23:49

If you’re so surrounded by snowflakes and wet blankets, I’m afraid the problem is likely to be with your behaviour, OP.

Blimeyoreilly2020 · 24/10/2020 23:50

I get you vaguely OP - but there are now SO MANY!!! Snowflakes.....be they the hard left nutters, the young woke and serially offended at everything (with no regard to the actual point of free speech), to the ‘right-on’ nutters who for some unknown reason actually thought BoJo & Gove were onto a good thing with the Brexit ‘lark’. For the love of God better education is required in this little, backward isle.

"I wept because I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet."

safariboot · 25/10/2020 00:02

And I'm sick of gammons.

PortiasPhantomPentanglePumpkin · 25/10/2020 00:04

I'm fed up with people chucking the terms snowflake and woke at everything.

However my favourite sentence is 'stop whining get up off of your fat arse and do something about it'

drmothytim · 25/10/2020 00:10

Not to be rude really but ironically, the only snowflake here seems to be you OP, I can’t see anyone else whingeing. You seem to be lacking empathy or the ability to tolerate others’ viewpoints.

froggygoneonakillingspree · 25/10/2020 00:41

Same. Though it's very funny that the biggest trigger for those who whine about "snowflakes" appears to be people getting off their arses and doing something (like protesting, or making change to be more environmentally friendly).

It reminds me of the fuss on MN during the BLM protests. Thread after thread of whinging about how wanting black people not to be murdered is just snowflake-dom, but golly the entire warehouses full of toys being flung out of the prams when someone shoved a statue into a river! It was hilarious.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 25/10/2020 01:24

@WhatNameToChooseNow
I think you've put this in the wrong topic, it needs to be AIBU.
Chat is too soft & cuddly.
You'll probably get more agrees in AIBU as snowflakes are detested (well apart from the frozen water kind)
Didn't we call snowflakes soft lads/lasses & drips once upon a time.
Wet Blankets were grumpy arses & moaning minnies whether you were man or woman.

Alesha Dixon was right to wear her necklace & the people who complained well they're just like 'the disgusted of Tunbridge Wells' who wrote letters to Points of View.

BefuddledPerson · 25/10/2020 03:28

I'm with you op . They make life so boring and you feel like you cant have a laugh for fear of offending anyone. Bring back the old days

Are you Jim Davidson?

Inthesameboatatmo · 25/10/2020 05:38

@Audreyseyebrows
I'm in an ethnic minority myself so that comment holds no water .
What I meant was so many people are so easily offended about the slightest thing that most people are nit even bothered about

iVampire · 25/10/2020 05:56

It was interesting to see the arrival of the snowflakes part way through the thread!

WelcomeToManderley · 25/10/2020 06:03

I think to be classed as a snowflake you have to be someone who is offended (on the behalf of others too) by almost everything, all the time.

The term is most commonly (mis)used ime as a get out of jail free card on Twitter by a certain demographic who are usually spouting genuinely offensive content cos “FREE SPEECH” but then cry and tantrum when the tables get turned.

WhatNameToChooseNow · 25/10/2020 07:58

Brace yourself...winter is coming....oh wait, it's already here! GrinBiscuit

Hilarious or just sad and depressing (or somehow simulateaneously both)?

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 25/10/2020 08:28

I'm sick of people dismissing others as 'snowflakes'....

I'm sick of people.
JemimaTiggywinkle · 25/10/2020 08:49

Starting a thread about how snowflakes offend you is a pretty snowflake thing to do Grin

Exactly! Intended Grin

goisey · 26/10/2020 00:52

I've got a feeling you're just a rude arse who is upset because the world isn't interested in you? Am I right? Non-snowflake here.

user1471565182 · 26/10/2020 03:32

Sounds like you need to toughen up Op.

CloudyVanilla · 26/10/2020 04:11

I really hate when people call others snowflakes, mainly because it's usually done by nasty ignorant people who can think of nothing better to say about someone.

And ironically it is usually the snowflake-caller who is more fragile and triggered by far than any so called snowflake Hmm

CloudyVanilla · 26/10/2020 04:15

And actually it's deeper than "nothing better to say". It's what people use to shut down people who want to say bigoted, shitty, narrow minded things, but they somehow can't because of all "snowflakes" piling on. Boo fucking hoo.
