What's your life too frickin' short for?

I was in the supermarket earlier, realising that I need to clean a load of windows at home which I've been putting off. I've been dithering over buying a bucket and getting some of those microfibre cloths to do the windows with, because everyone says they're fab and it would save the planet.

And then I thought to myself - life's too frickin' short. So I bought a load of spray window cleaner and some paper towels, and actually cleaned the windows, instead of the constant fussing about "Oh I should use warm soapy water and save the dolphins", or whatever.

What's your life too frickin' short for atm?

Ironing here too. Where are all you rumpled people though, because you don't live near me. Or work with me.

edwinbear · 23/10/2020 19:39

Flakey men.

thenightsky · 23/10/2020 19:50

@vixb1

I also don't iron. But I have ironing spray for the bed covers. Put the bed cover on. Spray it and smooth it. Looks better than not ironing it. Magic!

Anyway my life's too short is physically going to the supermarket. I can't be arsed unless I'm desperate. Now that there are lots of slots available, online shopping all the way. Amazon Prime Now is great. Wait until I've got a bit enough shop and it can be there a few hours later. Game changer!

Lenor decreasing spray!! Yes! I've been looking for this for months but its always sold out everywhere.

pairing socks...fuck that

Asterion · 23/10/2020 19:52

What is this anti-crease spray sorcery of which you speak? Shock

Getting fat, yeah ok, bit bigger than I should be, no getting to where I was 8 yrs ago.
Crap instant coffee, nespresso.
Black clothing ( except work wear)
Over tidy house

AfterSchoolWorry · 23/10/2020 20:11

Cooking
Food shopping
Helping kids with homework
Cleaning skirting boards or oven

It's all beneath me.

Hesnotlocal · 23/10/2020 20:23

Ironing (seems like I am not alone!), styling my hair, spending hours over many weeks and months planning the 'perfect' Xmas presents for all my friends and family.

For years I spent a lot of time on these things, through fear of looking slovenly if I don't and wanting to please people. I've gradually realised that actually no one will notice and I will have more time to do the stuff I actually enjoy. Last Xmas I bought presents for everyone other than my DC in one evening on the internet- no careful planning just buying the first thing I saw that was about the right price and vaguely suitable. MIL goes on about what an amazing present we got her and how perfect it was for her- she's never before done this, even when we have spent £££ and spent ages choosing so clearly this approach makes no difference to the recipient!

Pairing sock

dementedma · 23/10/2020 20:44

Ironing
My hair. Dont own a hairdryer..or a hairbrush for that matter
Fake or painted nails
Skirting boards. Apparently you have to dust them?

MrsExpo · 23/10/2020 20:50

Life is too short for ....

Ironing most things (I do a bare minimum)
Applying lipstick with a brush (or pretty much any excessive application of make up)
Going to the gym (I spend my life rushing about like a headless chicken. Why would I need even more excercise?)
Watching/reading the news (10 minutes a day to get the basics is enough)

Bargebill19 · 23/10/2020 20:52

Ironing, make up, going to hairdressers etc, cleaning my windows and the oven.

Spottysausagedogs · 23/10/2020 20:52

Ironing here too. Where are all you rumpled people though, because you don't live near me. Or work with me

Yes I also work with and live amongst judgey ironers! My life is too short for ironing, and judgey people's opinions of my non ironing stance.

Also I outsource the cleaning of my oven which I have only ever done once and I think probably never again.
Too short to wash or hoover out my car. Valet all the way.
To be fair if I can afford it I will always prioritise getting a cleaner because imo life is too short to spend it cleaning when I could be spending quality time with the kids etc, but money is usually the decider there I'm afraid.

ChaToilLeam · 23/10/2020 21:11

Ironing bedsheets
Doing surveys after hotel stays/online purchases
Dyeing my hair. I am embracing the grey.

OrangeBananaFish · 23/10/2020 21:12

I have nothing new that you lot haven't already said.

I'm in the no-ironing, no make-up, no food prep group (although DH does the cooking, but he's the same) too.

Totally agree about the job. Just becomes an issue when every job you seem to hate.

Oh popularity and spending time with bitchy people. If I meet someone or don't really know someone that well and they start slagging other people off I will back off and wonder why they are so popular. Confused

MiddleClassMother · 23/10/2020 21:31

Cheap clothing, I'd much rather buy something comfortable that lasts.
Instant coffee
Batch cooking to "save time", takes just as much time and I hate freezing food
Spending time with people I don't like.

MrsJBaptiste · 23/10/2020 21:35

Nope, life's too short to go around looking like an overweight crumpled mess.

So I watch what I eat, go to the gym and iron all our clothes.

So fucking shoot me.

OhTheRoses · 23/10/2020 21:38

Anything I don't enjoy.

MagicoRomantico · 23/10/2020 21:40

I was going to post 'ironing bedsheets', then I saw loads have people have said 'ironing, full stop'. So I'll be honest and say I never iron, because life it's too short.

Wetweekend99 · 23/10/2020 21:42

Boiling rice. I just buy the microwave rice its great.

MiddleClassMother · 23/10/2020 21:43

I agree @MrsJBaptiste
I'd much rather workout at the gym to stay healthy and enjoy my life more, than shovel my face full of food every day so I can't fit in anything and waddle about.

MagicoRomantico · 23/10/2020 21:43

@MrsJBaptiste gladly

Orangesox · 23/10/2020 22:06

Feeling like I have to justify every single life decision to my insanely judgemental and jealous mother. In fact, scratch that, communicating with toxic people due to a misplaced sense of duty.

Going to the supermarket - Ocado all the way!

Definitely in the minimal ironing camp too; absolutely detest ironing.

personwifemum · 23/10/2020 22:22

Loving this thread. So nice to see there are others that don't care!

I am not getting involved with Halloween or Easter decorations. Christmas is enough.

I'm not getting involved in seasonal bedding, cushions, crockery or any of the other shit the shops try and force on us all.

ImEatingVeryHealthilyOhYes · 23/10/2020 22:25

Proper coffee takes too long. And I imprinted on that dirt cheap stuff you used to get in thin brown plastic cups from office machines for 20p - the cheaper the coffee the more I enjoy it Grin
