Can you go out for a walk asking as you don’t go anywhere near anyone ?

OP posts:
LadyCatStark · 21/10/2020 17:16

No 🙈

Bmidreams · 21/10/2020 17:17

You are literally not supposed to leave your house.

Iftheclouds · 21/10/2020 17:17

No

Ecosse · 21/10/2020 18:02

Nope, you’re effectively in solitary confinement for 2 weeks.

Lardlizard · 21/10/2020 18:44

You still have to stay in after getitng a Clear test result ?

Frlrlrubert · 21/10/2020 18:47

You can't test out of t&t. If you get symptoms you can test and then isolate for 10 days from the start of symptoms, but you can't get a negative and come out of isolation because you could still be incubating.

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 21/10/2020 18:48

The negative test result means “when you took the test you weren’t shedding enough virus to be positive”. You could still be incubating it, could still be positive tomorrow. Hence the 14 days.

Otherwise we wouldn’t need to do isolation, we could just get a test.

Bramblespoint · 21/10/2020 18:50

You don't take a test if you are contacted by track and trace- only if you've got symptoms.

Really don't get why people can't understand incubation time!

ShowOfHands · 21/10/2020 18:54

DD has had Covid and several of her friends and classmates have had to self isolate. One of them had a test, along with her whole family (no symptoms) and it was negative so her Mum is trying to send her back to school and can't understand why they won't take her back. I explained it this morning and all she kept saying was "she doesn't have Covid".

People aren't getting it.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 21/10/2020 18:56

If you are contacted this means you are possibly incubating the virus, therefore you need to stay in your property and avoid contact
IF you develop symptoms, you request a test
If you don't you still need to isolate until the end... I believe there is a countdown on the app to assist the hard of thinking

Lardlizard · 21/10/2020 19:12

What’s the point of testing then !

OP posts:
MissisBee · 21/10/2020 19:14

Testing tells you if you HAVE it, not if you're incubating it.

Emmacb82 · 21/10/2020 19:17

Because they test if you’re symptomatic! If you have covid symptoms, you get a test. If positive you isolate, if negative you can carry on as normal. If contacted to say you need to isolate as you are a contact of a positive case, you need to isolate for 14 days to make sure you don’t have symptoms, and for the incubation period to pass so it’s safe for you to go back to work/school etc. There is no point in testing as you could be negative on day 5, leave the house and then test positive on day 10 and you’ve potentially infected lots of people.

Lardlizard · 21/10/2020 23:17

It’s not me anyway it’s a friend

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 21/10/2020 23:18

How are people still not getting this?

MasksGlovesSoapScrubs · 21/10/2020 23:19

I don't get what people don't actually get?
Not to be rude or harsh in anyway but it's pretty self explanatory.

Lardlizard · 21/10/2020 23:53

Because it’s bloody madness, more likely to get it in the supermarket than some restaurant

Actually in Scotland track and trace may tell you to get tested even with no symptoms. DH worked as a contact tracer for 3 months. Not sure of the exact scenarios as he had to keep a lot of stuff confidential

That's not true. You are more likely to be in a closer vincinity for a longer time in a restaurant. In the supermarket you should be keeping a distance, in masks, and you walk past eachother in seconds.
taybert · 22/10/2020 07:28

But it’s not about supermarkets and restaurants- it’s about being in contact with someone in the possible presymtomatic phase who is known to have then had a positive test. It’s not random- that friend was in contact with someone so they’re at risk of having contracted it and could be incubating for 14 days. A negative test means nothing in this scenario.

T&T has come in for a whole load of flack over the last few months for being ineffective, missing contacts etc etc and yet there are loads of people being told very clearly, exactly what they have to do and they still don’t do it.

Lardlizard · 22/10/2020 07:36

Don’t you think it’s ridiculous that your not supposed to be able to go out for a walk though

Even if you make sure you don’t come across others

I will not be able to self isolate unless I'm forced to by being actually really unwell. I will have to walk my dog twice a day. He is a reactive difficult rescue dog I can't just hand over to someone else. What I will do is walk him very early in the day and stay well away from.people. I live in a quiet place anyway.

Do you have a link for that please9 I havent seen that on any of the charts of transmission places that I've been able to find

Then surely you stick to the guidelines in the first place so that you'd never by contacted by T and T

Seems topsy turvy to have a plan to break a law when you dont need to get ever into that position

TakeMeToYourLiar · 22/10/2020 07:53

@PleasantVille
That's not possible for everyone though!
Perfectly legal things I've done this week which theoretically mean it's possible to be contacted by T&T

Been to midwife appointment and waited in waiting room
Went to supermarket with app on
Went to McDonald's and scanned the QR code

In addition my son is at school so we could be contacted any time if anyone in his class gets a positive result
