Don't want to watch 'Friends' with DD. Any ideas?

DD (9) wants to watch this with me. A couple of her school friends watch it with their mums. I loved Friends and watched it and ER with mum every week. But I was mid teens! We watched a couple of episodes but I felt it was very dated and I didn't enjoy it. Any ideas for a more modern, slightly grown up series for us to watch? We have Netflix and free view. TIA

I watched Friends the other day with DM and I was cringing at all the sex references and it was so so awkward. I’m 42.

My dc like watching outnumbered and ghosts.

How can you not love Friends?! Shock I’m aghast! As PP has said, she wants to bond with you and have something to talk to her mates about so just go with it.....PIVOT!!!

A few people have said Malcolm in the middle. I can only remember one scene from it, and it is when the men in the neighborhood were discussing how often they get sex, Hal asks over how long, they mean weekly and he says 14.
Is that the only sex references bit, as we can avoid that episode, or is it all like that?

They never actually say “sex” though, it’s only implied. And actually Malcolm in the Middle is a really good watch as they are an average family, have to work hard to make ends meet and have falling outs over silly things etc, I like The Middle for that as well.

I’m not overly keen on Modern Family as it is very much a slice of a much more privileged life than most people will ever get to experience.

Ooh yes - Ghosts is brilliant! Oh and how about Merlin - my dc love that.

I'm really surprised people think Friends is suitable for a 9yo tbh. It's very... adult relationshippy, and the subject matter is very much aimed at what interests 20-somethings and older.
