How much do you spend on Halloween for the kids?

Pre covid, £3 on a multi pack of mini Haribo packets and up to £5 each on a costume or accessories. It's no big deal in our area.

Bookaholic73 · 17/10/2020 01:01

I don’t!

pumpkinpie01 · 17/10/2020 01:07

Normally just a few quid on decorations but a bit more this year as he loves trick or treating and won't be going so I have made more of a fuss than usual. I am doing a little Halloween party so have bought more decs (£15 home bargains) will get some craft stuff and food so probably £45-50 altogether

Nothing these days.
Used to be a ton of sweets for trick and treaters, but my children didn't ever want to go out themselves! I'm not a big fan of American style Halloween fun!

wendz86 · 17/10/2020 07:25

I spent about £12 on some decorations . Dd2 got a ghost dress for £8 and will get dd1 something to wear . We are going pumpkin packing tomorrow at a patch which will prob be pricy . Then will just get some sweets to give them on Halloween walk .

Justgivemesomepeace · 17/10/2020 07:31

I buy 1 decoration a year (ive collected a lot now), anda new costume every other year, so just sweets really.

Anotherducker · 17/10/2020 07:42

We’d normally go out for the day to an outdoor play place/ play farm which has a pumpkin picking and carving activity.

Sweets.
Costumes probably every other year, maybe three years if they still fit.
I save the decorations and buckets/bags for trick and treating every year.

FelicityPike · 17/10/2020 07:50

Less than a tenner.

Thatwentbadly · 17/10/2020 07:51

This year I have bought the kids Halloween PJ to double as costume and then I bought them matching Halloween leggings and t shirt. They needed new PJs and will wear the Pjs and T-shirt/leggings throughout the year.
Pumpkins/tea lights £5
Halloween crafts about £10
A few sweets £3 (allergy friendly sweets are more expensive)

My kids are under 5 and as won’t be visiting indoor places half term will be filled with Halloween tuff trays, witches school including a treasure hunt and Halloween crafts to decorate the house and Halloween baking.

Tiggerdig · 17/10/2020 08:00

Just the cost of a pumpkin and sweets to hand out. And perhaps a new costume if last years is too small.
But we won’t be trick or treating this year due to covid so nothing.

ivfbabymomma1 · 17/10/2020 08:02

A costume, some treats & a few decorations to add to the collection. Maybe £20?

badlydrawnbear · 17/10/2020 08:03

If I buy new costumes (not every year as I only buy if they have grown out of previous ones), they are about £10-15 in Sainsburys. Sometimes we cheat and buy DC2 a Halloween costume as a birthday present as her birthday is the week before and she will wear it throughout the year for dressing up. Plus however much a pumpkin costs. That's all. I don't decorate for Halloween. I get sweets for trick or treaters, which this year I will just give directly to my DC rather than give to other people's DC and they give sweets to mine.

QueenofLean · 17/10/2020 08:05

2 pumpkins to carve, a big tub of sweets for trick or treaters and a new costume probably every 2 years on average. So £25ish?

BrazenlyDefying · 17/10/2020 08:09

less than a fiver to get some sweets from the supermarket.

AlwaysLatte · 17/10/2020 08:12

A new costume each year, up to around £30 each, one or two new decorations (I got some nice ones from Homesense), usually a film, sweets piñata and a visit to a pumpkin farm. We used to do hobbycraft stuff but they might say they're too old this year 😢

MJMG2015 · 17/10/2020 08:15

Don't know, never really thought about it.

Usually buy a few new decoration bits each year (but that's more for me 🤣)

Costumes, if/when necessary plus face paints etc.

We reuse decorations/bowls/glasses etc

Sweets to hand out in past years - not doing Trick or treat this year

Things like monster munch & spooky sweets for the kids this year. A few Halloween bits for tea & we'll play games/watch a film.

Not a huge amount

Standrewsschool · 17/10/2020 08:15

A couple of pumpkins and sweets to hand out.never brought decorations.

MJMG2015 · 17/10/2020 08:17

Oh I forgot the pumpkins to carve. Never been to a pumpkin patch in the U.K., but might look into that, but usually just from the supermarket.

& craft bits if there's anything they fancy.

BestOfABadLot · 17/10/2020 08:19

It's abig deal in our area. One year we hosted the pre trick and treat party so spent about £50 on food and decor. Most years we just put out the same decorations for the house and buy some sweets for trick or treater so about a fiver. If the kids' costumes have gotten too small I guess we might throw a tenner on new ones.

BestOfABadLot · 17/10/2020 08:20

Oh actually I forgot we do go pumpkin picking at a local place so we probably spend about £10 a year on that too.

crossstitchingnana · 17/10/2020 08:21

Good grief! How they get cash from our pockets and more shit into landfill. My kids are adults and I used to buy sweets for the tricksters at our door and a pumpkin.

lazylinguist · 17/10/2020 08:23

Mine are older now, but all we ever did was buy some sweets for trick-or-treaters, a pumpkin each for both dc and got together an outfit from stuff we already had. We've never decorated the house apart from putting the pumpkins out the front. I don't know anyone who does much more than that tbh.

loutypips · 17/10/2020 08:24

Nothing. It's a pointless American celebration that's only around to make money for shops.

Toebarb · 17/10/2020 08:26

Nothing now (youngest is 11). When they were younger, a tenner each on a Hallowe'en outfit from Tesco plus a big bag of sweets for visiting treat or treaters. Sometimes I made cupcakes with themed Hallowe'en toppers.

chipshopElvis · 17/10/2020 08:26

I just buy some sweets and a couple of pumpkins.
