I know, i KNOW theres no point worrying, and im catastrophising or whatever the word is. Pelvic scan this morning due to heavy periods. Been ongoing for over 2 years. Wasn't worried at all. Keen to get some help at last. Some cycts on ovaries and thickened womb lining, was told this could be the cause if the bleeding. Nothing major "jumping out" at him (scanner? )Went to work.

Just sat down and thought I'd Google causes of thickened lining of uterus. Thinking endometriosis, maybe ill end up having a hysterectomy.....Womb cancer seems to be high on the list. Read on, other tests will be to have a chest x ray to see if it's spread to the lungs. I've been suffering with breathlessness recently. Kind of tight chested, getting very out of breath on really brisk walks.

I'm not fit, and I am anaemic, and have underactive thyroid which I know can both result in breathlessness. But obviously now I'm really quite terrified and have no one to talk to.

I'm single, and have 2 small sons. 5 days til I hear from the GP apparently.

I do suffer with anxiety.

My freind had a thickened womb lining and it was something called anenomyosis not womb cancer. Her heavy bleeding is now well controlled with monthly medication.
Try not to panic although I know it's easier said than done. There are other possible reasons for your breathlessness that you also know you have like anemia

Clearthinking · 13/10/2020 22:39

My friend got this, they are looking into her thyroid she's 39

naughtymutha · 13/10/2020 22:40

I was going to say the same. Adenmyosis seems to fit with those symptoms. I have it mildly (no heavy bleeding) but was picked up on MRI. Treatment is pain killers if you can live with it. Otherwise they suggest hysterectomy or once you hit menopause it goes away.
I've written myself off loads of times thanks to google. Worrying won't help and only make you feel more anxious. Try and do something to keep you distracted. Keep it in the background and I hope it'll be a simple result Thanks

Thank you. I'm already taking thyroxibe for hypothyroidism.

I don't get any pain really. The scanner did ask if I have pain, but it's the heaviness that's the issue.

Ive just looked it up. I have been getting a lot of bloating which seems to be a symptom.

I was fine until I read the part about having lungs checked. I know it's ridiculous. It's really made me feel panicky.

Id happily have a hysterectomy.

longtompot · 13/10/2020 22:57

I don't have the thyroid issue but the rest could have been written by me! I've brought forward a blood test as I've been having some of the anaemia issues I had at the start (itchy skin, breathlessness, generally wiped, headaches in the morning). I'm waiting for my hysterscopy examination, next month all being well, and get to the solution for my heavy periods (fibroids).
I hope you hear from the dr soon with your results Flowers

ImFree2doasiwant · 13/10/2020 23:01

@longtompot thank you. I know I should step away from Google. Having just read up on adenmyosis, I have all 3 risk factors (child birth, c section, age....)

I think if it were fibroids he'd have said, that was what the GP referred me for.

OP posts:
longtompot · 13/10/2020 23:06

Mine were seen on my ultrasounds so I hope the other examination doesn't show anything else.

thisldo · 13/10/2020 23:10

Having same problems and I have fibroids. Was scheduled hysterectomy in April but it's been cancelled due to covid

ImFree2doasiwant · 13/10/2020 23:33

Thank you @longtompot I hope everything works out well.

I feel a bit calmer now, I had a real moment of absolute terror

@thisldo was it fairly straightforward to have the hysterectomy agreed? My GP pretty much ruled it out as a very extreme last resort.

This problem has been going on for over 2 years. Been backwards and forwards for scans and also had the implant to curb the bleeding. Finally my gynaecologist agreed that a hysterectomy was the only thing to solve the problem.
My advice would be don't let them fob you off.

ImFree2doasiwant · 14/10/2020 05:17

I've been suffering withbthe very heavy bleeding for over 2 years. Definitely won't be robbed off any more.

I have adenomyosis and an under active thyroid. My consultant said that mirena coil is the first thing they try ( has changed my life no more periods). If that doesn’t work ablation is the next course of action and only after that would they consider a hysterectomy.

Starlightstarbright1 · 14/10/2020 06:58

I had thickening of the womb lining. I was given the marina coil. All sorted. It may be very simple.

Good luck

Happymum12345 · 14/10/2020 07:11

Never, ever google any illness. The fact that nothing major was jumping out is good thing. You’ll be fine.

YenniferOfVengeberg · 14/10/2020 07:26

Don't Google things like this.

If you're under 50 it makes it more unlikely to be uterine cancer.
If it is, then you'd have a CT of your chest, abdomen and pelvis to assess spread, not a chest x ray (see how inaccurate google is already!)

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 14/10/2020 07:44

With the breathlessness, could it be possible you've contracted COVID at some point? It was pretty much the only symptom my husband had when he had it (back in April) and he still gets the lingering breathlessness now and again.

ImFree2doasiwant · 14/10/2020 07:46

Thank you, I'm.43. I know it was a bad idea, stupid of me, didn't expect to see womb cancer there in all the top results. And it was late, I was on my own, I suffer with anxiety which I mostly try to ignore. It just really got to me.

Thanks for the reassurance. Feeling better in the daylight with the children up and happy.

OP posts:
ImFree2doasiwant · 14/10/2020 07:51

I had a negative covid test a couple if weeks ago, but I suppose it could be a lingering issue if I've had it before.

Larsingsong · 14/10/2020 09:22

Hi, I've done a few weeks work experience in ultrasound. The sonographer will be the one writing the scan report and sending it to the referrer.

Therefore if they'd have seen something serious, they wouldn't have said "nothing major jumping out at me" instead they probably would have said nothing at all to you about their findings

ImFree2doasiwant · 14/10/2020 16:44

@Larsinsong thank you . I've been at work today, I thought I was feeling better but have a pit of anxiety in my stomach.

OP posts:
ImFree2doasiwant · 19/10/2020 22:54

I thought iI'd d update, i spoke to the Dr, she doesnt think there is anything obvioys which is causibg my heavy periods, is referring me to a gynaecologist, and has offered mirena or ablation..
