I know this is unreasonable... husband sleeping.

Reasonably lighthearted... She says, curling her lip....

I often lie awake for hours.. I'm a very poor sleeper, tossing and turning.. too hot, busy legs, blah blah

But listening to him BREATHING does my head in 😡😡. In fact all the noises he makes in his sleep.. it's as bad as noisy eaters 😤

I know I'm a grumpy old bag so no need to point out the fact it's just envy....

( no point to this thread whatsoever... just so BORED)

Have you tried white noise? When DD was in our room as a baby we had white noise and it was great for drowning out DHs snoring! It really helped me sleep too.

022828MAN · 08/10/2020 05:44

Haha I feel EXACTLY the same. I utterly detest my DH in the middle of the night, the moving, the breathing, the twitchun, arghhh!
Like you, I am often wide awake for chunks of the night and every thing be does bothers me (because I'm jealous and bitter than I'm not asleep essentially)!
Then morning comes and I'm fine, but god help the nights rolling round again!

justgeton · 08/10/2020 05:45

Atm I'd try anything... in the meantime I'll search for comfy earphones... 😉

Oh God, the noises 😡

Mine will hold his breath, then release it like someone slowly releasing air from a balloon. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Makes me want to smother him with his own pillow

Longdistance · 08/10/2020 05:47

I sleep in a separate bedroom. It’s tidy and my little peace haven where I don’t have to listen to the snoring, breathing, talking in his sleep and constant fluffing of his pillows.

justgeton · 08/10/2020 05:50

Mine clicks... every breath in makes a clicky noise at the back of his throat... frankly I could run him through.... 😂

Separate rooms.

Bliss.

Gingernaut · 08/10/2020 05:53

BBC Sounds have background noises for soothing babies.

8 hour tracks of car journey, space travel, rain, birdsong and a choice of white, pink or brown noise.

Brown noise all the way for me.

Look up "Calming Sounds from CBeebies Radio"

Hydrate · 08/10/2020 05:58

I agree white noise.

justgeton · 08/10/2020 06:01

I've just been on amazon and ordered one of those Bluetooth headphone/headband things... an app is next...

Audiobooks work for me!!

Ear on pillow, one earphone in other ear .... audio book on and boom 💥 peace and quiet!

JillGoodacre · 08/10/2020 06:06

I actually left our bed and went in with my son last night I was so fed up. He's up and down constantly. And the Snoring!!! Completely shattered

ProperVexed · 08/10/2020 06:13

Separate bedrooms for us....utter bliss. Mind you last night I had to get out of bed, open the bedroom door, walk along the landing passing the bathroom and DS's room, open the spare room door and prod DH awake as he was snoring soooo loudly. So, it might be separate houses soon.

FippertyGibbett · 08/10/2020 06:41

How I would love my own room.
I’d look for some white Broiderer Anglais bed linen and have it decorated white.

SqidgeBum · 08/10/2020 06:45

I am 36 weeks pregnant. I have had a grand total of ZERO minutes sleep tonight. My toddler is 'maaaa maaaa'ing upstairs. My DH has slept from 10:30pm to 6:30am, and is 'tired'. I spent the whole night listening to him snore, and have done so for the past 10 weeks. I havent had more than 5 hours sleep in weeks.

I feel your semi-lighthearted frustration. I know I shouldnt hate him for sleeping, but I do.

Mummyoflittledragon · 08/10/2020 06:47

Mine squeaks and snores, sometimes talks and has occasionally slept walked. Separate bedrooms = bliss!

TroysMammy · 08/10/2020 06:52

My DP comes to bed later than I do, wakes me up.
He plays games on his kindle until he falls asleep, pisses me off.
His mouth makes popping sounds when he's sleeping, I could smother him.
He gets up to go to the toilet, now I'm murderous.

But yipee he's working away for 2 weeks and although I've got restless legs I had a good night sleep even though the cat gave little meows when I was on the way to waking up before the alarm. Roll on tomorrow night when I don't have to get up on Saturday.

Sertchgi123 · 08/10/2020 06:52

Separate beds? Separate rooms? It works for us. I’m a terrible sleeper and it suits us both that we sleep in separate rooms. Our relationship has improved now we sleep separately.

howdidigettobe50something · 08/10/2020 06:59

Have you tried ear plugs? I tried several types before settling on Pluggerz and I wouldn't be without them now. I use them every night and they really help muffle annoying sounds coming from the other side of the bed. ...as for my own sleep problems... that's another story!

Moonshinemisses · 08/10/2020 07:00

My Dh is a mouth breather.....I'm going to leave that there incase I ever need a solid defense.
YANBU

Cheeeeislifenow · 08/10/2020 07:00

I have horrible allergies and my nose gets blocked, (I have tried every spray etc). When my nose is blocked I breathe through my nose. My husband huffs and puffs and tries to wake me up. He will shake the bed really hard and complain. (I am already awake I just can't breathe).
His reaction to my breathing is so bad that it causes me daily anxiety about how I'm breathing in bed and I dread going to bed. The last two nights I have slept on the couch I don't want to sleep next to someone who makes me feel like that.
So I sympathize with your oh.

Have you tried headphones I suggested this to my oh before but he won't wear them.

Cheeeeislifenow · 08/10/2020 07:02

*breath through my mouth

AnnieJ1985 · 08/10/2020 07:06

I have these, for exact same reason. They are great.
OllysArmy · 08/10/2020 07:15

Separate rooms here, never have I felt better, being able to sleep when I want or to be awake in the night as I often am. I am not sure I could ever share a bed or room again for long periods.

Oodlesofnoodles20 · 08/10/2020 07:18

Have you tried a pillow OP?
You hold it with one hand at each side, then you carefully cover his face with it and push down whilst whispering “shhhhhh, die quietly”
Does the trick. Worked a charm with all my husbands (god rest their souls) Halo
