How did you feel when you had your first DC?

This is inspired by how often people on social media seem to act like they are in some sort of happy baby bliss bubble. I know social media is often a fake idealistic glance in to others lives. But for me I found having my first DC a real shock and a lot harder than I realised it would be. I love my DC more than anything but often wonder if I am alone in how I felt at the start?

I was very immature and hadn't a clue what I was doing, but I muddled through. I was very tired, breast feeding non stop, and didn't put her down for months. I think being young meant I didn't get so tired, didn't worry about housework, what other people thought, plus there was no social media or internet, so just got on with it as best I could. I had tears, mastitis, a cold flat and not much money but friends still visited. Ultimately I look back with fondness knowing that as soon as I saw dd she was perfect.

Total rush of love and contentment , very easy baby .
I knew it wasn't the same for everyone and was very grateful.

I had Dd at 37 and I was glad I waited. The birth was horrible, 2 failed inductions and an emergency section. But once she was here, I felt that bond instantly. It took a few days for my milk to come in, but once it did I was lucky in that I had no issues with breastfeeding either. However, I ended up with an underactive thyroid and late diagnosed pnd. It was all worth it though.
