So what do people think the Queen's been doing over the last 6 months without many engagments?

A light hearted thread.
Her schedule appears to have been quiet. Which is fair enough.

I wonder if she's been getting up late, watching daytime TV - maybe Bargain Hunt?

Or is she a BBC Breakfast or GMB fan?
Watch Countdown?

Relaxing, putting her feet up.
I know she was doing less engagements as she got older.

She is 94 after all.

Now her staff have threatened to go on strike, batch-cooking scones for the freezer? Decluttering her safes? Googling slankets?

AdaColeman · 02/10/2020 21:42

If her staff do go on strike...learning how to make toast and how to boil an egg.

Doing her top.Which is what my MIL meant when she painted her ceiling.

My mum's a similar age - if the queen is anything like her, she'll have a sherry while doing the crossword in the morning, then watch the two star rated drama on Channel 5 every afternoon, followed by Pointless. Evenings are spent with Vera, Poirot, Morse or Lewis.

nosswith · 02/10/2020 21:58

Not having a weekly audience with the worst Prime Minister of her reign.

JuiceyBetty · 02/10/2020 22:26

Wait why are her staff going to strike?

My grandfather at a similar age had the Times crossword and his almontillado, some Stilton after dinner, and murder mysteries on the TV or in a book.
HollowTalk · 03/10/2020 00:35

@drspouse I can't wait until I'm that age!

SomethingOnce · 03/10/2020 01:33

Marie Kondo-ing the palaces and riding the ponies. Like any sensible person would.

BluePeterVag · 03/10/2020 01:43

Probably pouring over maps of California looking at suitable tunnels.

Regretting giving birth to Andy?

Somethingkindaoooo · 03/10/2020 01:45

Home schooling Andy
😂😂😂😂😂

GingerScallop · 03/10/2020 01:48

WFH. Waving from home

sashh · 03/10/2020 02:26

She has learned the art of wearing PJs all day. Has a zoom call with various children, grandchildren, great grand children.

Rides her horses (puts the jodhpurs over the PJs) and in the afternoon she has one of those skydiving machines where she reminisces about the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony.

ARoseInHarlem · 03/10/2020 02:30

Ringing her kids repeatedly to ensure they don’t fight over her will when she’s gone. Telling Andy she does worry so for the girls, he should probably call it a day and stay low profile in Windsor for the rest of his life. Telling Edward Sophie turned out alright, actually. Telling Charles she’s over it all now, Camilla seems ok and she hopes he’s happy. Telling Anne to keep an eye on the boys, they can’t be trusted. Writing a reading list for William, telling him not to cheat on Kate. Keeping her grey cells active with the Mexit conundrum. Reminiscing about Malta with Philip. Not getting out of bed until 9am, turning into at 9pm. LOADS of gin.

RizzleDrizzle · 03/10/2020 02:48

Zooming Micheal D Higgins to chat all things doggy.

I actually thought of how she’s understand the other week when Sioda died.

(For the non Irish/everyone, the Irish President, is a big dog person And he had two lovely big Burmese mountain Dogs Brod and Sioda. Unfortunately he lost Sioda a couple of weeks ago)

LadyLoungeALot · 03/10/2020 05:42

Probably enjoying a bloody good rest- that's what I would be doing if I was her!

DeeDimer · 03/10/2020 05:56

Watching Real Life movies with the volume turned up really loud.

Eastereggfan · 03/10/2020 06:09

Batch cooking

imhereforthesanity · 03/10/2020 06:24

I reckon she been catching up on mumsnet and been active on the feminism boards, For a giggle she might even have started this thread 😂

MsTSwift · 03/10/2020 06:27

Pretty outrageous that she does anything approximating “work” in the first place how many 90 year olds do you know still working?

Mindymomo · 03/10/2020 06:38

Being woken up with a breakfast tray.
Bath run for her.
Clothes laid out to wear.
Hairdresser in to do hair.
Go for a horse ride, horse gotten ready by grooms.
After ride, grooms brush down horse and stable it.
Queen changes clothes for daytime clothes laid out by lady’s maid.
Have lunch prepared for her and Phillip, staff serve, clear away and wash up.
Afternoon spent watching horse racing and placing on line bets, reading the racing post and hoping for a winner.

It’s strange to think she has never had to do any of the mundane household tasks that we all have to do each day, such as washing, ironing, cooking and cleaning, food and clothes shopping.

DilysPrice · 03/10/2020 08:44

To be fair about half of normal ninety-four year olds will be living in nursing homes and have all that stuff done for them.

She did have a year or two of normalish life after she married Philip and went to live with him on a Navy base. She’d probably have had a cleaner there, but not the full weird retinue of people to run baths and change the TV channel.

rslsys · 03/10/2020 08:52

She's spending far too much time on MN.

Baboutheocelot · 03/10/2020 08:54

She’s taken up reading just as Alan Bennett predicted.
