I bought my 15 year old son a t-shirt, without asking. I chose it. He not only declared it to be "poggers champ" Hmm but he hugged me and said thank you!
It's a miracle Grin
What was this shirt I hear you ask?
Plain black shirt with the immortal words "Country roads, take me home" printed on the front Grin

Anyone else been Rickrolled by their kids?

IncyWincyGrownUp · 25/09/2020 00:41

Pog/poggers is all over twitch and youtube. It’s generally considered to be good. The longer the word containing pog, the better.

Thanks for the earworm, that’ll be me annoying the cats with dodgy singing!

Country Roads (the John Denver song) is very popular with the teen boys

That's lovely to hear! I liked John Denver as a teen in the 1980s, but his music was seen by most teenagers as deeply uncool and weird in those days (when Bros were the kings of pop) - the sort of thing your parents listened to.

It's really heartening to discover modern teens are more broadminded and eclectic.

My biggest wins were an "I am Sherlocked" t-shirt and some Ghibli socks. The socks were the most loved Christmas present and shown to everybody. She is obsessed with socks though. Usually wears them odd. Getting ones that look and feel right are the holy grail here.

Well poggers is a popular expression in our house....I had to Google it Hmm

CarpeVitam · 25/09/2020 07:56

I can't believe I just googled 'poggers champ' 🙄

mosscarpet · 25/09/2020 08:58

brilliant thread LOL
My dd and her mates (Y13 - now left school)apparently hid pictures of Bob Ross all over the school last year (pre-lockdown) and younger dd said people are still discovering them this year in random places !

Fefifofaff · 25/09/2020 09:10

Titsywoo I've been Rickrolled! Think I'll do it to my daughter now that you've reminded me about it... 😁

I'm not sure if they're any more so than in the 80s. It's just that this particular song is very trendy right now, and teens love things that are trendy.

I won with my DD(13)

I bought her a new pair of trainers which she LOVED and said they were perfect.

It just happens that I didn't need to search. She's picked the exact same pair of black Adidas gazelles in different sizes for 3 years now and I don't even think she realised that they were the same ones she always wears until I pointed it out.

@PomBearWithoutHerOFRS I am beside myself with envy Envy probably the only time that icon has ever been used as intended.
