You can chose any PM from recent memory, say about the 1979s.

After a convo with DH this morning we agreed that Blair might have managed this crisis the best, not that it's probably a great bunch to choose from...

Thatcher. Blair. Cameron.

Not Sturgeon. Eugh.

Toddlerteaplease · 22/09/2020 20:04

May or Brown.

loobylou10 · 22/09/2020 20:04

Gordon Brown

Elllicam · 22/09/2020 20:04

I’m happy with Nicola

JamieLeeCurtains · 22/09/2020 20:05

Christ he's repellent

FrankieStein402 · 22/09/2020 20:05

Blair+brown - the global leadership approach they took to the financial crash is what is so painfully missing from anyone today - global problems don't get solved by a national focus.

Mysterian · 22/09/2020 20:06

The sexy one.

alliejay81 · 22/09/2020 20:06
  1. Brown (if you examine the evidence he did a good job getting the G8 / G20 to work together in the banking crisis and he has a pretty decent understanding of economics)
  2. Blair (in his pomp he was good at uniting the country in a crisis)
  3. May (as she's the least bad of the rest)
  4. Cameron (he presided over austerity which would make him a terrible lead through covid, but at least he wasn't bumbling
  5. Johnson (bumbling, ridiculous and inconsistent)
  6. Thatcher (evil - would've let the old die by now)
Figgygal · 22/09/2020 20:06

Thatcher
May

Can’t bring myself to say Blair

Wildswim · 22/09/2020 20:07

Thatcher.

Screwcorona · 22/09/2020 20:07

Honestly none of them, boris is doing a great job and I'd have chosen him out of all that have led in my lifetime

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 22/09/2020 20:07

Blair. Although there are some interesting arguments for both May and Thatcher which Im surprisingly swayed by. Not something I ever thought would write.

KonTikki · 22/09/2020 20:11

Best Question I've seen on Mumsnet for a long time ....
and Yes, Blair by a country mile.

RunningWaterfall · 22/09/2020 20:14

John Major

😂 that is the funniest thing I've read all day! You almost came across as being serious...nearly had me fooled! Love a good bit of humour!
Wildswim · 22/09/2020 20:14

Thatcher was decisive and principled and not swayed by popularity polls. She would want to do the right thing and would make tough decisions. She was also authoritative and commanded respect. That's why I'd choose her.

Timeforanotherusername · 22/09/2020 20:15

Brown

Then Blair

JacobReesMogadishu · 22/09/2020 20:16

Gordon Brown. He had the chancellor experience so I think would have been good with balancing economic need with the pandemic.

If we open it up to previous or current politicians then I think Rory Stewart would have been good with his experience in Iraq following the war. Seems like a bloke who would be good planning his way out a crisis.

ANoTail · 22/09/2020 20:17

Gordon Brown.

Thatcher may have been strong but it would have been the economy all the way. I'm not sure she'd have actually said the words "Let the weak die." But that'd have been the direction from the beginning.

ThatDamnScientist · 22/09/2020 20:17

@celestebellman

I think we should let Nicola Sturgeon run everything.

Ex prime minister - Gordon Brown

I don't disagree, I think sturgeon would do a fine job.
weepingwillow22 · 22/09/2020 20:22

In order of preference
Brown
Major
Blair
Thatcher
May
Cameron
Larry the cat
Johnson

I think there's probably a tablet for that
thetrees · 22/09/2020 20:24

Blair.

cherry2727 · 22/09/2020 20:26

May or Blair!

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 22/09/2020 20:26

Maggie Thatcher. Strong and wouldn't take any crap.
