You can chose any PM from recent memory, say about the 1979s.

After a convo with DH this morning we agreed that Blair might have managed this crisis the best, not that it's probably a great bunch to choose from...

Gordon Brown - which surprises me as I really didn’t rate him as overall as either chancellor or PM but you can tell he cared and I suspect he’d have been quite sensible about the whole thing.

May or Blair

If nothing else, Mrs May has remained in the House of Commons, which very few former PMs do.

@Thinkpinkstink

Blair. In hindsight, aside from the illegal war, he wasn't that bad.
His war on the disabled doesn't bode well for the likelihood he'd have taken any approach other than kill the vulnerable 'herd immunity'.

Cameron would've been useless. He'd have done what he's good at. Run away. Spent the pandemic hiding in his Oxfordshire home, leaving it to someone else to deal with (and heaven help the vulnerable if that had been George Osborne!)

harridan50 · 22/09/2020 19:47

Blair

SheepandCow · 22/09/2020 19:49

I think Thatcher is the only one who would've been prepared to do what was necessary to protect economy and lives. Shut the borders.
She would've used our island advantage like Australia and New Zealand have done.

Itllbeaninterestingchristmas · 22/09/2020 19:49

I agree with red rum anyone but boris.
Blair would have been best, then brown, major, May, Maggie and finally Cameron. His judgement wasn’t great, if he’d been better we wouldn’t be leaving th EU.

ThatDamnScientist · 22/09/2020 19:49

Theresa May or Margaret Thatcher, both strong leaders imo, both I would trust to lead us through this mess. Not sure about Tony Blair (cant really recall what he was like as PM, same with Gordon Brown).

I obviously dont want the stupid bastard who is in charge now, nor would I want Cameron- he was a shite leader (being the dick that got us in the Brexit disaster just to appease some whinging party members something he will forever be remembered for).

itchyfinger · 22/09/2020 19:50

Blair.

I bet they're all glad they're not though!

Xuli · 22/09/2020 19:50

A Blair/Brown combo feels like it would have been good

Right now I'd take Larry the Downing Street Cat, Lord Buckethead or anyone other than the shower of shit we're stuck with.

lughnasadh · 22/09/2020 19:51

Gordon Brown.

Xuli · 22/09/2020 19:51

🙄

Blair for me. Please!!

mbosnz · 22/09/2020 19:55

I was here for Blair with CJD. I'd say, if limiting to British PM's, I'd go with him. His foreign policy might have been suspect, but he did alright at domestic. A shitload better than this absolute abdication of leadership that England is suffering at the moment.

Graphista · 22/09/2020 19:55

Blair or brown - and I am not a huge fan of new labour but I think they'd both have handled things MUCH better.

If I could choose ANY Previous politician - John Smith

ANY current celeb - Martin Lewis! He'd have had an eye on the economic fallout but he has a heart and common sense too!

AlwaysLatte · 22/09/2020 19:55

Not Thatcher. We're still suffering the aftereffects off the damage she caused!

celestebellman · 22/09/2020 19:57

I think we should let Nicola Sturgeon run everything.

Ex prime minister - Gordon Brown

gower4 · 22/09/2020 19:57

Cameron

Serena1977 · 22/09/2020 19:58

Gordon Brown

Calm, straight forward. Didnt have the charisma or gift of the gab but at the moment that's not needed.

JamieLeeCurtains · 22/09/2020 20:00

Ed Miliband.

Anyone but this cunt.

Graphista · 22/09/2020 20:00

Have to say while I clearly don't necessarily agree I definitely understand the votes for thatcher.

Don't understand the votes for May! What we absolutely need at this time is someone with focus and backbone and she has neither!

I really think calm, clear, sensible softly spoken Scots men would have been great at this time

JamieLeeCurtains · 22/09/2020 20:01

Oh look at his little fists and his big union flag

Is David Tennant available?

SheepandCow · 22/09/2020 20:03

I think he's had his hair done.
