I have just bought some croissant rolls. What do you put in yours?

I feel like they should have something a bit extra in them.

It’s a crescent to commemorate the Ottoman flag.

It was in Vienna where they first started making them, after the city was under siege by the ottoman armies. The silver lining was the coffee they brought.

This type of pastry is still called Viennoiserie in France.

Ham, cheese and tomato for me. .

I hear mine in the oven and have them nude!

Definitely ham and cheese. Last time I bought some I had a bit of leftover cheese sauce, so I chopped up some ham, mixed it into the cheese sauce and had it in the toasted croissant rolls, divine. (tip that I got from someone on here, Aldi and Lidl sell big packs of ham trim which is perfect for this sort of thing - I hadn't noticed if before because it's in value packaging, but it's actually nice ham, just misshapen).

But I'm now thinking about a few of the other suggestions on here, such as butter and jam or scrambled egg, but I'd almost vowed not to buy them, because they're not very filling (always baffled by the love for 'pastries' on here because there's so many carb fearers who claim never to eat insubstantial carby food that just makes you more hungry) and I could literally eat the whole pack.

I slice mine and lightly toast them. Hate cold pastries.

I like mine warm and flaky from the oven. Add a thin slice of good mature cheddar and some finely shredded ham hoc or deli ham. Add a very strong hot cocoa. Delish! 🌹
