Has anyone had a hot stone massage? Thoughts?

Booked in to have a 55 minute hot stone massage and wondered if anyone had had one before and how you found it?

Absolute bliss - lucky you!

TheDogsMother · 09/09/2020 16:26

It was wonderful and I'd love one right now. Enjoy

BumholeJ · 09/09/2020 16:27

Absolutely divine!!

MargeryBenson · 09/09/2020 16:27

Ooh that's sounds promising then! I have had a bad back for 4 weeks with sciatica and it's only just better with physio and Pilates.

So I decided to treat myself to a massage and deliberated between something functional and something nice - and I quite liked the sound of the hot stones!

Absolutely amazing, especially the little warm pebbles between your toes. Sheer heaven.

magicstar1 · 09/09/2020 16:35

I’ve had a couple of different ones. First one was amazing with the hot stones rubbed all over. The second was even better as she had loads of little tiny stones on my face, feet etc.
Enjoy it!

Toddlerteaplease · 09/09/2020 16:35

Wonderful!

MargeryBenson · 09/09/2020 16:36

Feet? They put them on your feet?!!!!

I thought it was just a couple of large flat stones on your back!

I'm glad I asked now so I can mentally prepare. Thank god I had a pedicure only this morning 😂

i've had a mixed experience... once really lovely and another, not great because the stones were too hot. 😏

AppleKatie · 09/09/2020 16:40

I’ve had several and never had any on my feet!

It’s nice though, super relaxing

VinylDetective · 09/09/2020 16:41

My masseuse tucks little hot stones between my toes, it’s the best bit. The cold ones on the forehead are nice too.

MiddleClassProblem · 09/09/2020 16:43

Never had between toes! Hand them placed on the soles of my feet before.

Toddlerteaplease · 09/09/2020 16:43

Oo yes the drones between your toes is bliss!

cupofdecaf · 09/09/2020 16:45

Bloody lovely.
If you have any inflammation though they'll feel hotter there.

Kittywampus · 09/09/2020 16:46

I liked it, I think the heat of the stones helped my muscles to relax

Impatientwino · 09/09/2020 16:48

Ohhhh reading this thread makes me want one so much! Only ever had one and it was amazing the stones felt so good and on the borderline of too hot so therefore just right and it felt incredible!

I too only had big ones on my back but fancy the small pebbles on my feet!

Enjoy!

notso · 09/09/2020 16:59

I've had two, both completely different. One was a regular massage then the therapist put hot stones on my back. It felt really good though.
In the second the massage was with hot stones and then more stones were put on the back of my neck, my back and the back of my legs. This one was loads better.
However I've never had them on my feet or head, feel like I've missed out there.

CarolNoE · 09/09/2020 18:43

Enjoy it. Off to check website for my local salon and request between the toes as never heard of that aspect.

Orangecake123 · 09/09/2020 18:46

I loved it!

Hope you enjoy yourself OP.

I used to do massages weekly as I had upper back pain. Other times once a month. I haven't been back since march.

MargeryBenson · 09/09/2020 19:06

Can I ask what people are paying? Approximately of course.

The one I've booked is at a high end ish spa so I'm paying a premium for that but I'd love to know a ball park as I intend to have them more regularly along with Pilates as the bad back/sciatica thing was absolutely no fun and I'm keen to avoid it again

Mine’s £56 for an hour. Worth every penny.

VictoriaBun · 09/09/2020 20:11

Let's us know how you got on. Well jel !😂😂

Toddlerteaplease · 10/09/2020 01:59

You could also try Reflexology, it's amazing and so relaxing. My reflexologist is also really good at diagnosing things and she's scarily accurate!

Happynow001 · 10/09/2020 05:49

Its been a while since I've had hot stones massage, so the price would be irrelevant even if I remembered. BUT I do remember how incredible it felt.

As a PP said, verging on almost too hot but utterly blissful. The masseuse I used to have didn't chat through it (I hate that!) only speaking to check if I was OK and if I needed more pressure - which I did and it was fabulous.

Yes also re the little stones between the toes and facial massage with warm stones. I fell out of love with it when my regular place went from stones to smooth shells so never again got a properly deep massage and the shells were never hot enough. I think I might do some research how though - my back and shoulders could do with some attention. Good luck OP - hope you enjoy it! 🌹

Bluesheep8 · 10/09/2020 07:01

It's lovely for all over general wellbeing op. Sorry to derail as it's not what you asked but I would wholeheartedly recommend osteopathy for more specific issues like sciatica. I won't pretend it's in the least pleasurable but it's been a miracle for my ongoing shoulder problem.
