I went to school with someone called Crumplehome.

Trebilcock is my best one to date

FlamedToACrisp · 08/09/2020 23:17

The comics I read as a child used to have "Batty Books" where the author's name was a joke about the title, such as 'How to Train Your Budgie' by Hugh Zapretti-Boyden, or 'In the Forest' by Teresa Green.

I once knew two people at the same time, both called Teresa Green. Never met Hugh, though!

NOTANUM · 08/09/2020 23:17

I know of a Dikshit.
Me too, @kpo58
I think it's a common enough Indian surname which raises eyebrows here for sure.

I also have a friend whose DS has a first name that rhymes with his surname and is spelt exactly the same apart from the first letter, like Saul Paul (not his actual name)

Mine is very rare. Only 7 in the UK with it, all family. The kids got their dads surname but mine as a middle name.

I've come across a Pine-Coffin too, in London.
Also Fuggle, sweetlove and goodenough. And Messiah (but his first name wasn't Brian disappointingly)

A doctor I saw once was called Dr Acula and he actually took my blood

Brilliant. We have a PC Rick O’Shea round here, which I love.

My old boss was called Horniblow and it was brilliant for taking the wind out of the sails of the complainers who were asking for the manager.

Had a teacher called Wigglesworth which all the kids used to snigger about.

Also knew a Ms Crapper.

A local football club had a chairman called Mr Cocks. When the results were poor, the fans held up signs “Cocks Out”.

FenellaVelour · 09/09/2020 00:17

And DragonRider must be deed poll, surely. Someone who works in my husband’s department changed their name by deed poll to Bilbo Baggins.

ChristmasCarcass · 09/09/2020 00:18

Met a Mr Cocklady this week. Nice man.

ChristmasCarcass · 09/09/2020 00:20

Dr Cobbledick Miss Goodhead
I have also seen letters to Dr Cobbledick, so can confirm that one is real. South London.
FenellaVelour · 09/09/2020 00:32

Oh, I’ve thought of more.

At junior school we had a supply teacher called Mrs Zool. She looked like Sigourney Weaver and this was the year after Ghostbusters was released. She put the absolute fear into the whole school without even trying 😬

A couple got married in a civil partnership a few years back, saw the announcement, they were Mr Cumming and Mr Creamer, and I hope they double-barrelled.

I met a child called Hugh Cumber about 20 years ago. Poor lad.

I also worked with a Penny Penny and we called her Tuppence.
