Pay off mortgage and extend the house to add another bedroom

AnneLovesGilbert · 04/09/2020 11:15

Mortgage. New car for DH. Better car radio for me. Weekend away.

BashfulClam · 04/09/2020 11:17

It would clear most of my mortgage so we could drop out outgoings a lot.

elaeocarpus · 04/09/2020 11:21

New car
Some into savings
Sort out furniture/garden items
Mortgage
Spend a bit on clothes/holiday/frivolous

pisspants · 04/09/2020 11:39

I would repay my credit card £2k, put some money aside (£5k)for a trip to the country my ex is from so my kids can meet his side of their family and they can get to know more about their heritage. I'd take £3k to sort out some small repairs to my house to get it ready for sale then put the remaining £90k into buying a bigger home on the other side of town nearer to my kids schools and friends. I wish!!!

Pipandmum · 04/09/2020 11:41

Pay off a bit of mortgage but mainly it would go in to school fees fund.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 04/09/2020 11:44

Pay off the mortgage - I have £40k left on it. Put £40k in an account for DS for a future house deposit. £20k I'd leave in the bank for a few lovely holidays (post Covid).

unmarkedbythat · 04/09/2020 11:46

Clear credit card debt, put down hefty deposit for a house.

BillywigSting · 04/09/2020 11:48

Driving lessons and a car plus first years insurance, professionals in to paint and decorate the house and do all the random niggly bits of diy that need doing.

And if there's any change out of that some nice big oak bookcases because mine are quite literally falling to pieces.

Very boring!

Either pay off the mortgage on the rental house, or use to make a lot bigger deposit on the house we are looking to buy next year.

ScrapThatThen · 04/09/2020 11:51

I might allocate half of it to a deluxe annual skiing holiday for us all for the next ten years.
But really I would like to use it to bridge the 7 year gap between when I want to retire and when I can retire.

alula · 04/09/2020 11:52

Use it as a big deposit towards our first house.

Yankathebear · 04/09/2020 11:54

Deposit for a house if I was feeling sensible.
Holidays and pretty things if not.

showmethegin · 04/09/2020 12:04

Extend the kitchen to a kitchen/diner and a loft extension

Ploughingthrough · 04/09/2020 12:07

Stick 10k into savings accounts for each of my children. The rest into the pot we are furiously saving into to buy our final forever home.

gggrrrargh · 04/09/2020 12:08

Clear my mums mortgage about £45,000, about £40,000 on mine, a bit in savings and a fabulous holiday. Smile

Toilenstripes · 04/09/2020 12:11

Half pension, half to help my niece buy a house.

iklboo · 04/09/2020 12:13

Large house deposit, treats for parents, holiday when everything dies down CV19 wise.

Trisolaris · 04/09/2020 12:16

Deposit for bigger house 50k Holiday and car 5k Savings 45k

TeacupDrama · 04/09/2020 12:18

Pay of rest of mortgage -13k, repay my long term saving account 11k which was borrowed to pay for house repairs, 15k to finish off house, a new good quality sofa (not dfs) then use the rest to work less for next 7 years till I retire

Megan2018 · 04/09/2020 12:19

Have another baby!

Grumpbum123 · 04/09/2020 12:21

OverTheRainbow88 · 04/09/2020 12:23

10k for each kid in savings
20k In savings for a rainy day/ another Covid type thing
3k on an amazing holiday
Rest on mortgage!

Funnyface1 · 04/09/2020 12:27

Mortgage, no question.

carriemathisonshandbag · 04/09/2020 13:14

I was thinking about this earlier this morning! I decided I would pay off my debts, finish my house (new windows, garden, driveway etc), buy the remaining bits of furniture I have my eye on. I would also get a new car. With what is left I would pay off some of my mortgage.
