Chelsea boots, Dr Martens - worth the money?

Are Dr Martens boots worth the money?

These days I have a bad back and cheap shoes make it much worse and give me foot pain (oh the joys of ageing!). So, this year I have decided to put some money behind a good pair of Chelsea style boots, hopefully to last a few winters, save my feet and back and generally be more sustainable.

Have you got some? Can you give me a review or give me some other good recommendations for Chelsea boots that are comfy and supportive.

I only buy dm boots. Not the trad ones, but all sorts of different ones. My favourite were the gayles.

Im heavy on my foot wear, but they last and last and last. And are super comfy.

I've been eyeing up some birkenstock boots, but at £165, I'm not sure I can break out of buying a pair of trusty dms!

I have ten pairs of different boots and shoes, worth every penny.

Docs aren't generally made in the UK anymore, apart from the 'Made in England' styles, which may be why some people are struggling with breaking them in (cheaper construction and materials). If you want 100% Made in England boots, try NPS shoes. They used to make Docs under licence for Dr Martens, and their range is 100% made in England, by hand, in Wollaston... Just around the corner from the Doc Shop. Have a look at the website for the history, if made in England is important to you, and you will see the range is very similar. They are so much more comfortable than my Docs, around the same price point, but the made in England thing swung it for me.
