Period pains feel like labour

I think my first period since having DD 11months is on the way and it is so painful.

It literally feels like I'm in labour.

Is there anything I can do to bring it on hoping that might ease it a bit.

My first period 13 months after dc was born was horrendous on the build up and then the day it came was a massive relief I had ibuprofen for about 4 days with the build up.

I've used protection as well as breastfeeding

Try the test anyway...?

I agree the first period can be really painful. However once you go past a certain point in pregnancy your HCG actually doesn't show up as much on the tests. I've read the advice to dilute it somewhere too

Marking my place on this one

Paracetamol with ibuprofen, a hot bath, rub your tummy clockwise and you’ll be grand in an hour. I have had horrible periods since my last child was born I’m afraid to say.

Sorry just realised you already said it was 😳 First is awful! Have you got a hot water bottle?

You say you would have had signs you were pregnant so you think you can't be, but you also say you thought you were pregnant and took a test? Why did you think you were?

OP all my periods are like labour pain.

Report
Motherofmonsters · 28/08/2020 20:31

Lucindainthesky - erm because I though I could feel kicking.. however it looked more likely to be wind and I didn't feel it again after a week (or two)

You're remarkably calm, wouldn't you say?

Report

Please take a test!

Report
Lucindainthesky · 28/08/2020 20:35

A positive pregnancy test isn't caused by wind though is it?

Kicking, positive pregnancy test, labour pains...

Absolutely shameless placemarking on this one

If you have a test at least do it to rule it out?

there was a lovely lady on here a while back who felt something move in her stomach one night. We all told her it was wind. She turned out to be 20+ weeks pregnant. I often wonder how she's getting on but I can't find the thread now. Smile

Hahahaha everyone looking for dramma. I had almost no period pain pre childbirth then my periods, which o also got about 11 months later were more painful. Esspecisaly in one specific Spot that was the first place.a felt contractions and also painful postnatal. But parocetomol helped. I know.it could.happen but really most people would know they are pregnant

Report
MitziK · 28/08/2020 20:50

Um, don't you remember that the pains can subside and come back later?

Obviously, I'm placemarking. It could be a crappy first period and a previous bit of wind - BUT the faint positive pregnancy test is a lot more worrying.

I really would call 111 in case it's labour, whether early or full term.

I dont think a pregnancy test would show as positive late into pregnancy. Hcg levels go back to levels seen at 2 or 3 weeks pregnant after week 23 or so.
