Has anyone ordered anything from MADE (furniture etc)

When it comes to furniture or homewares my usual go to places are IKEA or occasionally John Lewis - but there is something I am thinking of ordering from Made. Is the quality ok?

Fantastic, quality stuff. We have two sofa-beds, a large storage ottoman and a daybed from MADE and they are so good. You'll not regret ordering from them...

GuyFawkesDay · 28/08/2020 18:04

Have a chair bed and it's fantastic.

Great - thank you!

Been wondering about MADE myself... 🙂

BobbinThreadbare123 · 28/08/2020 18:28

Yep - I've got a few Made bits. Very happy with them and they're nice quality.

Palavah · 28/08/2020 18:31

I haven't but a friend has had a piece of furniture that feell apart and another that arrived in 2 different colours (it was not supposed to be).

mamaoffourdc · 28/08/2020 18:33

Yep always had good stuff from them

We have ordered a few things. They do take a looong time to come. And we had to return one item but the customer service was excellent.
Would recommend

I really want a couch from MADE but my friend had a bad experience with a poor quality bed and the customer service was awful.
But I haven't seen another couch that I like more!

I ordered an ottoman bed. The quality is good. It’s been assembled, taken apart and reassembled again. All ok from that perspective.

But I did have two issues: the colour that arrived was different to the sample swatch I ordered (blue-grey vs a brown-grey so a completely different tone) , plus several different small parts were missing from the assembly pack which had clearly been opened. I did call Made about both issues and they weren’t particularly helpful. I wanted to find out if it was the bed or the swatch that was wrong ie. was the style bed actually available in the swatch I was sent. The person said they couldn’t say and would not give me an email address to send pictures of the bed and swatch so they could look into it. Regarding the parts, they said it could take at least 6 weeks for the parts to be sent out.

Fortunately I was able to find suitable bits at a local hardware store so I ended up keeping the bed as I could make the colour work in the room, even though it was different to what I had in mind. It helped that I hadn’t bought the wall paint yet, so I switched that to something else.

I got the distinct impression that sorting it out myself was going to be quicker and less stressful than dealing with their customer services. So overall, I think using them is hit and miss and my experience has put me off using them again.

I have a chair that I love but it was 10 weeks longer to deliver than they initially said. So depends how fast you want it!

CarlottaValdez · 28/08/2020 18:39

To be fair mine was still getting quite a lot of breast milk at that age. Obviously don’t know how much volume precisely but maybe 4 feeds.

CarlottaValdez · 28/08/2020 18:39

Lol wrong thread Blush

CasaLuna · 28/08/2020 18:39

We had a sofa which lasted less than two years. Suppose it was our fault for buying a tufted sofa but it lost absolutely all shape and couldn’t be plumped or anything due to the tufting. It just became an eyesore in the end. £499 so wasn’t mega mega cheap.

showmethegin · 28/08/2020 18:41

@Beetle76 Had the same issue with our sofa, it is amazing and so well made but the colour was different from what it appeared on the website; my sister said the same about a bed she bought

Painsnail · 28/08/2020 18:44

I have a bit of made stuff and the quality is great, it just takes about 3 thousand years to be delivered

actiongirl1978 · 28/08/2020 18:48

They buy in bulk so only get the order when they hit a threshold of purchases hence the delay.

We have a light, a dog bed and a king-size storage bed and love each item. All look brilliant and are super quality. When the bed was delivered the delivery men put it together and took the wrapping.

LouisBalfour · 28/08/2020 18:48

We’ve got 2 accent chairs from Made. They sit in an upstairs hallway so I can’t say how hard wearing they are as no-one ever sits in them. They look nice though.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 28/08/2020 18:50

Yes, have a bed and a chaise longue. Both excellent, but I’ve had them less than a year so I don’t know how well they’ll wear.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 28/08/2020 19:02

We’ve got a couple of armchairs and I am pleased with the quality. We’ve had them quite a while and I don’t recall a lengthy wait, so perhaps that issue is more recent.

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 28/08/2020 19:07

My brother had a great experience with them
Took a long time to arrive but they were gorgeous pieces, good price, well made etc. My mum ordered from them on his recommendation but had a worse experience. There were lots of problems with delivery, and very poor customer service. But the item when it arrived was lovely. So, some good, some bad, same as most companies probably. I'd go for it if you like their stuff.

SinkGirl · 28/08/2020 19:09

We have a sofa from there that was my sister’s before she moved - it’s at least 7 years old and the most comfortable sofa I’ve ever had. But her new one is from there and it’s nowhere near as comfy so hard to say.

Our bed is from there and it’s lovely, and our coffee table. Overall pretty good.

jitterbugintomybrain · 28/08/2020 19:12

Got a gorgeous sofa and bedding from them. Their customer service is brilliant too.

CountFosco · 28/08/2020 19:18

We've got a few items from them. A gorgeous solid oak desk that I love and was much better value than veneered desks from the likes of John Lewis, a chair bed that is fine but sits in the spare room so doesn't get a lot of wear and a sofa bed that was very cheap, sits in the playroom so gets a lot of wear and some of the springs are buggered already after a couple of years. I do have a 7yo that jumps on it regularly. In comparison our Klippan sofa from IKEA has lasted 17 years and was equally cheap.

Flynn2019 · 28/08/2020 19:34

I have the Connor 3 seater sofa in navy velvet from Made.com. Absolutely love it and everyone comments on how expensive it looks considering what I actually paid for it. Had a great experience purchasing from them also so I would definately buy again from there x
