Best slow cooker meals with no prep?

When I say no prep I'm happy to chop vegetables Smile but no time to brown the meat, can't be doing with that at 7am!

Help me get organised for September, will be ferrying 2 kids to childcare and going our to work and am feeling the fear.

What are your fave slow cooker meals with no hard-to-get-hold-of ingredients and minimal prep? Aiming to use 3 times a week so need more variety than my usual stew.

This! It's so tasty and really easy.

Porridge oats can help thicken any mixture and are undetectable in the end result. Not to mention the feeling of dietary virtue it adds!

@Thiswillbeinteresting mix about 4 teaspoons of cornflour powder with a very small amount of cold water (just enough to dissolve it, don't let it get too runny), and I added it in about an hour or so before the end. It takes a little while to thicken up so leave it for a while and then check on it, and you can add more if you need to.

Could you do this with plain flour too or would it have to be cornflour?

ladykuga · 20/08/2020 21:21

OP gammon is pork.

PamDenick · 20/08/2020 21:27

Also, baked potatoes work well...

@GiveMeAllTheGin8 sounds lovely, how much coconut milk do you put in? A whole tin?

I put a whole tin in, probably could have used a little less as I didn't have much chicken. Thanks Gin for the recipe, it went down very well Grin

I think we'll try @ylvamoon veggie curry next Smile

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 21/08/2020 14:19

@MrsWithwithers I use a whole can. I used to use water with the chicken stockpot but now I just add the stockpot as it can become very watery !

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 21/08/2020 14:20

@Thiswillbeinteresting sometimes if I don’t have cornflour I leave the lid off for last two hours . This will also thicken it.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 21/08/2020 14:23

I recently discovered tinned potatoes. Sound awful but they’re lovely chucked into a slow cooker curry or casserole and you don’t need to peel or prep.

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 21/08/2020 14:47

@BigSandyBalls2015 I find potatoes don’t actually cook properly in my slow cooker, do these work well and are not still hard ?!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 21/08/2020 17:09

That’s the problem I had but tinned ones are fab, not hard.

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 23/08/2020 12:45

Brilliant Thanks , will give them a go !
