How many women Doctors are in your Practice/Medical centre?

Just discussing this with a friend about how easy it is or isn't to see a female Doctor.

All five Doctors in my surgery are female. There have been male doctors in the past, and you get the occasional locum, but it has always been female dominated which seems to be somewhat unusual to me.

Out if curiosity, how many female Doctors are in your local medical centre/surgery?

There’s a couple of men but most are women. I don’t think this is unusual nowadays, when I was a child there was only one woman and the rest were men.

DramaAlpaca · 14/08/2020 13:23

It's a small practice. Two of the three GPs are female, all three are excellent.

SilverYellow · 14/08/2020 13:24

There's 2 women out of 5 at my GP. The one prior to that had zero women..

Now, absolutely no idea. I don’t even know who the regular doctors are as they only seem to offer appointments with locums.

Up until a few years ago there there were 2 male doctors and 3 female doctors. Most of them were awful but that’s another thread.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 14/08/2020 13:31

Five out of eight are female at my surgery.

googybob · 14/08/2020 13:33

I thought the female % was high in general because it's family friendly?

BeyondMyWits · 14/08/2020 13:45

We have 5 male and 5 female. But 3 of the female doctors are part time and effectively fill one post.

So 5 m and 3 f doctors' posts

The "trainees" - all 3 of them - are female

CormoranStrike · 14/08/2020 13:50

Almost all female, just male locums.

Witchend · 14/08/2020 14:01

IHaveBrilloHair · 14/08/2020 14:03

Half and all of the nurses are women, my favourite is one of the males though.

sixlemons · 14/08/2020 14:04

It's a massive practice and there are several. There's also several practice nurses and nurse practitioners.

ForeverRedSkinhead · 14/08/2020 14:04

Mine only has one GP, as I live remotely and he's a man, there used to be a part time woman who would be in every couple of weeks but I think she's been on maternity leave as she hasn't been around for a while.

BearSoFair · 14/08/2020 14:18

Half - 3 of 6. The nursing team is 4 women, no men.

BearSoFair · 14/08/2020 14:19

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 15/08/2020 06:17

4/4 are female in the surgery I am registered in, the one that I was with before that was 1/3 and the one before that was a male partnership (2 men)

Redraptor · 15/08/2020 06:35

Wow I'm really chuffed so many have you have such good access to a female dr. In my surgery I think there are 8 drs and 2 of them are women. One only works 2 days so If I'm adamant i want to see a woman the wait is weeks

Zoflorabore · 15/08/2020 06:41

Large practice here. We have quite an even split. Doctors tend to stay for many years, many until retirement. The female doctors we have are aged between early 30’s to early 60’s and 2 of them are specialists in an area eg one is a skin specialist.

I still prefer the male doctors at my surgery though. I’ve known them a lot longer.

So around 6 F/6 M and locums of both sex.
All of the nurses are female but we do have a male receptionist.

fantasmasgoria1 · 15/08/2020 06:41

There are 4 females and 1 male gp. All nurses are female.
