What do I need from IKEA?

Any good buys recently? Anything to avoid? I’m off there this evening to buy an office chair but would like to pick up some bits and pieces to make the house look nice too.

If anyone is on this thread looking for IKEA ideas then I highly recommend buying the poang chair frame only (adult or child version) and then ordering a cover for it on Etsy or eBay.

Everything 😂

I have found the plants are really nice. Kitchen utensils hold up really well, and their kitchen storage is awesome and hardy. Picture frames, candles, pots and cushions are worth a look too.

Food bags

sitckmansladylove · 13/08/2020 15:13

Thank You for the tip about buying the poang cover on eBay.

I would love a trip to Ikea. The faux having ivy are nice. I have one or two on bookshelves etc. Rug are great as are a lot of the lamps.

The octopus (for drying socks) cushion covers. I just love ikea

(Can I go with you 😂)

Batteries and lightbulb also worth stocking up on

Faux hanging plants

forgetthehousework · 13/08/2020 15:16

Their potato masher is the best I've ever used.

StuntNun · 13/08/2020 15:18

I like the chrome hangers for bottles in the shower. They have some nice shoe racks if you're in need of such a thing. Their crockery is cheap if you don't mind plain white.

Blueuggboots · 13/08/2020 15:19

@AuditAngel - I was coming on to say good bags too! I love them and the fact they wash well to be reused. 🤣🤣

EventRider1 · 13/08/2020 15:21

@sitckmansladylove don't you mean a socktopus?! Wink I love our socktopus!

I always buy load of stuff I don't need in Ikea. Their kitchen stuff is great. Can get loads of big (and small) Kilner jars there.

castieldeansam · 13/08/2020 15:23

Batteries - all of them!

Lightbulbs for the Ikea lights you've bought over the years.

Kitchen implements and maybe a frying pan.

Candles, I don't know why

Bath mats and or towels

Picture frames, all same one colour for the display you might put up if you ever print off the photos.

Does anyone know if the cafes are open yet? Grin

PoodleMoth · 13/08/2020 16:28

Thanks for the Poang tip ours is despererate for a new cover!
I always used to buy batteries at Ikea but the price has gone up and the last couple of lots leaked! I now buy the Amazon basics and they are far superior.
My list at the moment;
Plants
Chopping board
Light bulbs (and adaptors if needed)
New kallax boxes

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 13/08/2020 16:30

I need a new cover for a klippan 2 seater sofa! Went to order one online and it says delivery end of September which feels ages away.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 13/08/2020 16:32

Everything and the tea lights.

The food is good. Especially the mini teeny daim bars. £4.95 for 100’s. Buy two bags.

AuntieDolly · 13/08/2020 16:43

Packets of white flannels from the kids section. Use them as dishcloths, dusters etc.

Choice4567 · 13/08/2020 16:45

I really want a spice rack divider that goes in the drawer. Don’t suppose you fancy picking me one up?!

SimonJT · 13/08/2020 17:04

God I love Ikea.

Spatulas
The cheap white plastic chopping boards
Glass tupperwear with bamboo lids
Glass water decanter with cork lid
Indoor hanging plant baskets
Natural string bags to hang plants in, if you choose a plant with smaller leaves and longish branches they look really good
The little wooden toy storage with wheels and a rope handle are great

hedgehogger1 · 13/08/2020 17:36

@SimonJT can we see an example of a plant in a string bag please? Finding it hard to visualise

goingtotown · 13/08/2020 17:38

Patience.

Cherrytangfastic · 13/08/2020 17:40

Their Kilner jars! I always want more

rosegoldwatcher · 13/08/2020 17:41

I really, really, really want a Hemnes shoe cabinet.

And some Dime bars.

Like this, but I’m more of a fan of them on hooks rather than a curtain rail.

I was in Ikea today and did precisely this Grin.

GiantKitten · 13/08/2020 17:57

Anybody wanting the fabric boxes for Kallax (Dröna), there are some designs on eBay that aren’t on the Ikea website (though may be in store I suppose).

They do cost more, but you don’t have to go to Ikea & buy tealights ! Grin (Ours is an hour away down the sodding M6)
