Move to Warwickshire

Good morning everyone,

I got a job in Coventry and we need to relocate. I am looking for advice of where to move.

Are there any good areas in Coventry itself? From looking at previous threads I haven't seen anything positive.

We have a budget of around 240k so not huge and would like 3 bedrooms.

We have looked at Nuneaton and Southam. We would be able to afford quite nice houses there I think. There are also some in Leamington Spa but they'd be significantly smaller than in the other places. Are there any areas there to avoid?

Our criteria are basically 3 bedrooms, small garden, parking, ok commute to Coventry. We don't mind about the high street so much or anything. We would also be very happy with a village.

Does anyone have any advice, recommendations, areas to definitely avoid?

Thank you!

sobersides has nailed it. I used to work in Nuneaton and Whitestone was the “posh” area which is affordable and has good schools.

Coventry has some good areas- mainly on the south side.

If you can push your budget to £280k you would be able to buy a nice 3 bed house in Leamington. If not, there are LOADS of new houses being built and many of these will be part buy/part rent. This might be an option for a few years so you can become established in the area.

Balsall Common, Knowle and Solihull are lovely but notoriously expensive. Your best bet would be to come and drive around villages to get a feel for place. Then look on sold house prices to see what properties actually sold for. Then Right Move to see what is available.

I am in a village outside of Tamworth. I like it. 3 miles into Tamworth with Snowdome for swimming, ice skating, skiing, snow boarding, snowplay with real snow, and indoor climbing. Close to bowling, shops and restaurants, cinema. Castle pleasure grounds has tennis, crazy golf, huge fort climbing and play area and BMX/skate park for older kids. Where we live nice walk or bike ride around lake, softplay, Jump Extreme trampolines and several gyms and sports centres that run football, karate and cricket training for kids. I like living in a place with lots of amenities for kids so they don't get bored. We have Stage Coach dance, drama and singing lessons too. I have seen a nice 3 bed detached with garden on small development go for £258 for quick sale a couple of weeks ago. I am close to motorway and Coventry about 35 mins commute as direct route in.

We used to live near Nuneaton just into Leicestershire. Nuneaton, Tamworth etc are nothing to write home about as town centres but actually there's a lot more to the area and loads going on in and around villages when you get to know it . I miss the locally made food and farmers markets most.

There are people who commute from that area to Coventry but if you are the wrong side its a long and tedious drive. Try to give yourself a train option.

Hi
I'm moving to Rugby in a few weeks from London - rent first with the aim of buying. I'm thinking about Long Lawford. It's in a new build area - which parts should I avoid?!
Thoughts otherwise with any other areas (apart from those mentioned) might be good? I'm completely flexible but on a budget of around £750/month to rent
