Under 40s to carry on as normal.

Latest on the news today suggesting that everyone under 40 should ignore Covid rules and go back to pre lockdown rules. How do you feel about this?

I am 30. I'd be happy to carry on as normal but I don't think that's fair on the over 40s. Can't see it happening anyway.

I agree I think it would make things far more complicated.

I agree we need to get back to normal at some point. But it needs to be under 40s who have no underlying conditions and employers have to note that not all childcare will be available

I’m not sure my shielding DH consultant would agree that just because he is 36 that it would be a good to do that.

Who is suggesting this? A number of scientists, a random flat earthier or politicians who don’t bother reading briefings from their own scientists.

Every single suggestion like this is just more evidence the country is failing to deal with the pandemic impacts across Britain.

Better if the 18-30 all stay at home instead of party so the everyone can carry on life in a responsible manner lowering Covid rates

Maybe a curfew for anyone under 30. Bed time at 8pm unless working

I'm 42 and if this was proposed I would not be sticking to the rules for over 40's

I think its the latest from the government to get the economy going.
The over 40s I guess just carry on as we are.

Tbh we’d be better making the under 40s stay home. IMHO they’re the ones least likely to SD.

Maybe let all the pensioners out- at least they wouldn’t have beach parties, races in cars and raves in parks. 🤔

I'd like to see their economic modelling in this scenario, don't they need the over 40s to spend too?

I feel like people in their 40s are ignored a bit. I keep reading "only x number of deaths were in under 40 years olds" and that "over 60s are most at risk" or "most deaths have been frail and elderly people" but there is hardly any mention of the risk to people in between those ages groups.

I am carrying on as normal although over 40. What else am I meant to do? Social distancing stopped here in June anyway and apart from wfh full time and wearing a mask in a shop, I am back to normal. Gym, eating out, shopping etc.

Everyone knows the under 40's are totally immune to infection, never asymptomatic and therefore won't be spreading it around to the whole community.

Oh, wait.......

We're in an area that has had tighter measures applied due to a spike in numbers - in the 17-23 age group, which is at odds with under 40s going back to normal

We haven't had such a focus on hygiene and social distancing before, so as long as that continues, I'd like to get back to normal (keeping away from anyone vulnerable).

It would be nice to have face to face appointments again.

Well considering I was shielding and have two very high risk factors I won't be doing it. I am so sick of people who forget that there are very vulnerable people under 40
